"This is a Minter shooter with the finese removed and the volume turned to Bruce Forsyth screaming with the force of a nuclear explosion" - The Gillen, Rock Paper Shotgun

WAR NOSE: Now with no Forsyth and a very hasty name change because Steam and because SSSH KIDS.

In a secret life and under a different identity, War Nose snuck its way into the inaugural Eurogamer Expo Indie Arcade to stand tall next to WORLD OF GOO, MULTIWINIA and some other games that probably didn't have a name even half as good as War Nose. It's a bit shonky around the edges now but way back at the dawn of time, STATEMENT OF INTENT.

Still not sure what the statement was, though? Probably "look at me, look at me, look at me" knowing me. Anyway! Where was I? Ah yes, War Nose, aka War Bus aka War T<redacted>, an arena shooter that seemed like a good idea at the time. Basically, how much noise can you throw around on screen and still have a game that's any good? That was the idea. This is the result.

Somehow this thing ended up in The Guardian, punted around all over the place, being flaunted at expos and shows and I don't know what happened there but that's a thing that happened and I'm still not sure why. It's hecka dated now and seemingly held together with string (it's from 2008 originally) but I figured it's still worth an outing and a bit of a laugh.

Music is, as ever, from the incredibly talented and mysteriously named Barry Island. King of Frutorious.

Shoot things. Don't die. Oh my, don't die. You will die.

You are the player!

This needs some work and is still very confusing. I cant even tell who the player is.

Hey, it's a great start. All you need is some instructions and an easy way to figure out what the character is and it will improve the game play for people who are taking a first look at the game. I thought I was the flying saucer in the middle at first and couldn't figure out why I kept dieing within the first 3 seconds. I'm hoping that I can come up with something just as great. You've got a lot of potential.

"I thought the game was horribly horribly bad. That is, until I figured out how to play it. Now it is addictive" - I like to think it's both!

At first, I thought the game was horribly horribly bad. That is, until I figured out how to play it. Now it is addictive. It's hard to recognize what exactly your character is at first, and how to fire. Your chracter is a little red dot, and you have to avoid touching just about everything. Hold down the "A" key to fire, and use the arrow keys to move around. The screen has so much action going on it is difficult to tell where you are in relation to all the explosions. The insane music, constant action, and feeling of an old retro game make this game pretty cool.

Hopefully this isn't too much of a mess/too buggy. I need to rejig it from scratch really but for now... WAR NOSE. UNLEASH THE NOSE OF WAR.
