John Dee (1527–1608/9) was an English mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, and advisor to Elizabeth I. He was one of the most learned men of the Elizabethan era, studying navigation, science, and the mystical arts. Dee became famous for his attempts to communicate with angels through crystal-gazing and “Enochian” magic, working with the medium Edward Kelley. His work blended early science with occult philosophy, making him a strange but influential figure in Renaissance history.

Barcell III, by contrast, is a far less scholarly legend—known mainly in local lore for chaotic antics, questionable hygiene rumors, and a reputation for dramatic injuries (reportedly including a heroic yet ill-advised jump from a five-foot football net). Despite his temper and creaky joints, he remains devoted to a mysterious girl named Graci and continues to live on as a meme among friends rather than a figure of academic study.
