I really wanted to enjoy this game, after seeing the trailer i thought it was finally my answer to a cooking mama style game on PC. However, i’m kinda disappointed, especially considering the hefty price tag for this style of game. It looks like a mobile game, and despite it being called “cooking” cafe, from what I played you dont really get to do much cooking at all. Instead the main focus seems to be on decorating and preparing food through very simple minigames that get boring quickly. For example, the pouring pancake batter minigame is basically identical to the bread cutting minigame. I wouldve loved to go through the process of baking the cakes, rather than the cake just already be made and all i’m able to do is ice it and add toppings the game chose for me. Also, despite the game saying it has 80 different menu items, many of these are just different variations of the same thing. So 10 different flavoured pancakes, or 10 different sandwich fillings. The minigame stays the same for each one and the only difference is toppings which means the game gets boring and repetitive after a while. I think this would be a great game for kids due to it’s simplicity and forgiving minigames, and i liked the inclusion of a character customisation section. If simple dessert and food decoration is your thing and you don’t mind repetitive games then you might enjoy this one, just dont make the same mistake i did and assume its a cooking mama clone cause you’ll be sadly disappointed.
