Uhh.. it's really been a good while since I did that thing. Chances I based it off of a generic rifle. Probably Mauser, maybe Winchester, Springfield? I actually read the article you mentioned some time in the past and it's been pretty on point. Going through the concept art file, I have the original reference in there but it's not labeled or anything. Also needless to say, I butchered the thing.

For other pointers, Sky did the actual model for this bad boy. Chances are he made the same thing and made a generic rifle.
