Deutsche Version Game of the year Edition.

The most relaxing game ever.

AND IT INCLUDES CATS. LOTS OF CATS.

And the game does even have message, as all the other games by the Devcats. And look at the price of all those games. More than fair.

This is more of a "meh" than a "yes", but still, overall, it's positive.
The whole idea of the game is pretty unrealistic, and so is the game, but that's not a bad thing, it keeps things simple. Open world and being able to do anything the world allows is nice, but it doesn't allow for too much.

The major general drawback of the game is the "slightly" wonky physics which sometimes causes things to go horribly wrong, so do yourself a favour and save often. Luckily, although the game disallows saving all the time and does not offer autosave, you can carry around the item which allows you to save almost everywhere and anytime (which makes the decision to require an item to save the game a really weird one).

There are only two things in this game which I would call "bad".
1. The raft seems to have no issues carrying a lot of wooden boxes and doesn't even sway much with you walking around on it. But putting an animal on it (like a "huge pig") or a Hammerhead shark puts such a weight burden on it that the raft is barely keeping floated. Even a big raft does not help much there. The physics model of that behaviour is just too simple. It kills the fun. And I don't even start speaking about the weight of the barrels.
2. Hitboxes for animals - both you attacking them and other way around. It's impossible to ascertain why something happened. Snakes half a meter away hit you without moving, you're stepping on Starfishes which are half a meter away, Poisonous fishes sometimes hit you half a meter through stones. Sharks and pigs attack you and run "through" you, but you can't hit them with your weapon when they do.

Those two things make the game really take a downturn. I'd really love to have them fixed.

There are a few more minor issues, which should be fixed as well, like, you stand on the raft with something in your hand, move it down to where the raft is, and the raft gets displaced by stuff in your hand, making it spin, dip or accelerate without any reason, or the issue that stuff simply disappears into the floor or assets, mainly it's stones and clay which do that.

The "normal" difficulty is way too little of a challenge regarding food and water.

The game needs a few more prominent pointers of dangerous situations like dehydration, famine, low health, air, and especially it needs them *persistent* and not as a popup which is visible for like 3 seconds.

The issue that you can not use your second hand while steering the raft, not even looking at your watch for stats or holding a compass, despite the second hand being displayed idle and not in use all the time, is nervewrecking and infuriating.

There is literally almost no reason to build something on the island, except that you can't build something like a "cabin" on the raft. But actually there is no reason to build one except roleplaying, the house is not even rainproof.

"No, but..."

Overall, this is a "No, but..." rating. The game initially feels like Frostpunk, but much more forgiving and much less structured in the City builder facet, which comes from the fact that you don't have to build close to the center.

The game comes with 5 playable maps, no random maps or something, so this part feels a bit weird, but when you start playing, you realize that the game does not offer much replayability after the first map, since you notice that the map itself barely makes any difference.

You get the hang of it while playing, after a while you've settled in and found a way to manage your village even through long phases of toxic winds, drought and frost, without any deaths except of old age. You've fulfilled all tasks with ease, and your people seem to be happy. Some of the tasks felt a bit weird, you think. It says you should build something, and the task additionally has a goal to produce or collect a sometimes entirely unrelated resource. Sometimes it makes you build a building which you don't want to use because it's inefficient.

And then it happens.

You're using your resources at hand the best way you can. You don't create huge stockpiles of building resources because what use are they in a stockpile. And then the game confronts you with an extremely short notice task to build a second one of the useless building, and collect three different resources, in three days. And to build the required building, you need three days worth of making the required resources. Meanwhile in the time you scramble to build more resource making buildings to make enough, the three required resources get collected at three to six times the required amount. But in the end, it's futile, the task fails because you didn't make it to build the useless building. It costs a lot to fail a task. Only a few of the failed tasks will make you drop in satisfaction enough to not hit the next target, which makes A LOT of people leave, and people are crucial, since even with the highest fertility buildings child counts are almost stagnating.

For me, this was the last straw to a weird session. The game feels nice, but it does a few things so badly that I've finally Alt+F4'ed out of it and going to switch games. I don't know if I'm coming back to it any time soon.

TL; DR
If you really want to fill the Frostpunk itch with a more forgiving, less enforcing city builder with a few extreme quirks, wait for an at least 50% sale and give this a try.

Fun little game, looks nice on the first glance (nice graphics effects, although the ships not moving on that rough sea is a bit weird :-D ), extremely easy, extremely short - 30 levels, most of them one-shot solutions without even thinking about it, that's it. Sometimes the physics glitches a bit, not game breaking (had it in 2 of those 30 levels).
Game starts in Russian, but you can switch to English in the settings (second option in the menu).

Not recommended due to the price. Other 9€ games give hours upon hours of gameplay. Worth maybe 10% of it. Literally, writing this review fairly took longer than playing the game. Very sad.

It's a nice game. Atmospheric, beautiful, a bit dark.
It's more like a visual novel, absolutely linear, broken up by micromanaging your machine and solving some very easy puzzles.

Still a thumbs down. For the price asked, the game is just not enough. Too short, challenging the 6 year old in you.

If you happen to come by a big discount, I recommend getting it and playing it. But even if you're playing slowly, 5 to 6 hours is the maximum, and there's no replay value if you're not an achievement collector.

Rock solid game engine which is now being extended with the help of the players in the EA phase. Also plays really well on Linux.
Dev is very approachable, active, and open minded. Community in Discord is great and very helpful for newbies. I'm really looking forward to what this game will become in the next months and years.

Nice game, finished the story in 8 hours, not including all the secrets and achievements.
Story has a few minor plot holes which don't matter too much.
Only very few puzzles were quite weird, most of them were straightforward.
Great music, I wished they would release the music only as DLC instead of selling a complete bundle. I didn't know the music was that great, so I only bought the "normal" edition, and now I'm bummed out.
Looking at the price, I would recommend waiting for a sale, as for 8 hours the original price is quite steep.

At this price, already a steal.
If the devs get rid of the most annoying things (*cough* physics *cough* stuck rabbits *cough*) and maybe add a little more content for the freedom, you can't say no.

The game is relaxing for hours. You can do what you want, go RCV style or race car style. If you're older, you may remember the iconic cars. And they are made with quite a bit of love.
Details about the simulation create a depth which is not visible immediately. Yet the cuts into realism are made at a place which still allows arcade feeling and a relaxing play style if this is your choice.

The game is *not* a hard physics based game, but some of the physical elements are hard.
And the internal music design (radio stations!) is absolutely great.
