Not only is this the best written video game I have ever played, It may be one of my favorite pieces of writing full stop. Disco Elysium has so many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ words and somehow it's consistently one upping itself the entire time. The world is so painstakingly realized, so often the choice of words is so evocative, so poignant and cruel and triumphant and 20 other adjectives on top of such memorable characters and scenarios. Every hour of my 40 hour playthrough, I had to take a step back and ask myself, how is this game real? I will be thinking about this game as a piece of art for many years to come, I will remember what Disco Elysium has given me for far far longer.
