Very original and good game. Intersting gameplay, good and original characters, pixel graphics, some RNG, glorious death, tough gameplay and awesome music. This is kind of really underestimated game that can give you some fun and relax.
Very original game. After Endless Space I bought this one and Aplitude Studios didn't disappoint me at all!
It is really tough roguelike. It do not forgive any mistakes. Pixel graphics and awesome music (like in all their games) are things that keep you for hours. This game is mix of RPG, strategic game, dungeon defense, roguelike and few other genres. I totally recommend checking it out!
Only multiplayer game has bugs. I hope they fix them at some point.
As a part of modding community I must say it is the best civilization game ever. It is very complex strategic game, but after installing Vox Populi mod and many additional content asociated with it, the game becomes perfect: - awesome graphics, - really detailed historical info, - many units, buildings and other stuff that introduce you into history of any nation added to the game, - tough decisions, - realistic warfare, - hexagonal map requiring tactical mind, - lots of civilizations to play (increasing with mods), - good UI (I recommend installing VP EUI for even better experience), - good multiplayer, - even more stuff you will find on your own. Come and check!
Why I love DST? - developer cares for the community, releases constant updates (fixes, new stuff), - awesome original graphics, - replayability, - funny moments, - many ways to kill your character, - climatic music, - lots of mods, active modding community, - many more.
Killing zombies with friends never gets bored. This is kind of game that you will come back after long time and have loads of fun. And it never gets older. 13000 people playing it in 2019? Which multiplayer game can achieve this?
I play it with Captain's Edition mod and bunch of smaller addons so it never gets bored. There're good modding community, replayability, cute pixel graphics, statistics, RNG, death of your most favourite characters in most inconvienient moments of the game, quick karma, heavy stuff, bad pirates, tough decisions, hard boss encounters (with mod it is different every game), strange aliens and many more. Just everything that perfect roguelike should have.
Long version: I surely would recommend this game. About all the pros I will write later.
Why I hesitate and write negative review? Just because producer is totally ignoring our posts related to known bugs. In late 2016 I noticed major bug (I am playing on PC Win 7) when during late AI turn their worms hang. It breaks the game and makes the player leave current game so he cannot finish even 1-round match he set up. I read some comments and found guy with similar problem. He posted some videos, his comp specifications and described his match set up. I did the same adding also screens and doing lots of tests. It turned out that "Worm Select" option is the cause. If you turn it on, game is unplayable with AI. We told them about it. Dozens of people confirmed the problem. Everyone sent their specs, setups and said that my conclusion is right.
What developer have done since then? Nothing. They only wrote also dozens times asks for comp specifications, setups and promised to fix this. I decided to post in November 2018 bug info directly onto their support site (outside steam). For anyone interested: Ticket #3015. Again nothing. In mid Jan 2019 I wrote again to the support asking what is the progress on it. They said it is difficult problem to resolve and I need to be patient. I was. But now I am really sad they ignored me for 3 years.
And what I like in the game? Here it is: - awesome graphics, probably the best one in whole worms series, - buildings! My favourite part of the game. Hiding in buildings and destroying it creates much new experience, - whole bunch of old and new weapons, - stationary artillery weapons, - new crafting system, - interesting vehicle idea, - lots of customization options, - HUGE maps where you can play with 8 worms and 6 teams at once! That was not available since WWP probably, - awesome campaign with side quests. Very logical and funny, - good wormopedia, - many voice banks, - old armageddon physics, - and probably many more stuff I didn't mention.
I wouldn't compare it to W:A or WWP. These are totally different game. But some aspects from old ones could be implemented in WMD.
