It's honestly quite incredible to think about how amazing of a game Terraria is.

It's just so much fun in every essence as well as having so, so much content for such a tiny, tiny price tag. The game itself plays in a mixture of sandbox, survival, RPG, and adventure.

The sandbox and survival elements are the most front-facing aspect of the game when you first look at Terraria. You start the game, load into the world, and begin from there with the entire world being available for you to play around with. You can chop down trees, begin mining, build a base, and carry on from there. Once you have started a solid foundation (or not) you can begin expanding your world. Building large, extravagant bases. Building systems to enhance your world such as various different types of automated farms for items. Creating an entire network of teleporters, railroads, and hellivators to be able to have ease of access to your entire world. And so much more.

There is just so, so much to do; the possibilities are essentially endless. Any new idea you come up with, you can build in the game. Do you have a new base idea? Do it. Do you have a new pixel art idea? Do it. Do you have a new adventure map idea? Do it. Like any sandbox game, you can spend thousands of hours just building new stuff, putting your imagination into the game world, and doing just whatever you want to do.

The RPG aspect of the game might be a lesser prevalent part but is still very much there. You begin in the world with a copper sword, pickaxe, and ax. From there, you must use those tools to be able to explore the world an acquire new materials. Though some materials you find might require stronger tools to gather compared to your lowly copper ones. So you must find those materials and then continue on that path until you unlock the best items in that game. Alongside that, the game has soft-classes in which you can pick different classes to play as depending on what armor you wear and items you use. Furthermore, the bosses throughout the game provide an ever-increasing challenge which requires you to have stronger items, new tactics, and new builds compared to the previous bosses. Once you have completed a specific boss or set of bosses, you unlock the ability to progress to a new part of the game and fight new bosses, unlock new items, mine new resources, and have new adventures. You play through each boss, and complete each new challenge, until you reach the final boss and quote-unquote, beat the game.

When you include the existence of multiplayer and modding into the game, Terraria becomes even more endless. Both multiplayer servers and cooperative play allow you to have new adventures with a variety of people. However, multiplayer servers are not the most fleshed-out part of the game and is lacking compared to other multiplayer games. Though game modes such as spleef, class-based PvP, and many more are still very enjoyable to play. Cooperative allows you to have the same experience as singleplayer but with friends. Everything talked about so far can be said to be true in cooperative play, but you now have friends to play with. Personally speaking, Terraria is one of my favorite games to play with friends. And once you have spent thousands of hours playing Terraria, you can explore the world of modding and mapping to add even more thousands of hours into your experience.

My personal biggest complaint about the game is the inability to disable the spread of Corruption, Crimson, and Hallowed in the game world. While this is such a big mechanic, and a very good one too, a vanilla way to remove all Corruption, Crimson, and Hallowed from the world and have a 100% pure world without going to the effort to do so would be something that I would personally appreciate.

With everything available in the game, and with all of the experiences I had and will continue to have, Terraria has solidified itself as one of my favorite games of all time. With the combination of so many other viewpoints, how revered this game is across all of gaming, and how comparatively cheap it is, Terraria may be considered one of the greatest games of all time.
