TroubleDays is a visual novel about a lonely man and a shy succubus, and their budding romance.

- Disclaimer -
For the purposes of this review, the adult patch is not installed. Check the comments for a link to the patch. With patch, expect sexual content with mosaic'd genitalia.

Consider this game to be sort of a "choose your own adventure" game. It's mostly reading, with the occasional prompt to decide what you want to do. Depending on your actions, you can unlock different scenes and content. These choices do offer some replay value, or you can see most (if not all) additional content by saving and loading.

- How to Play -
The button you'll be pressing the most is the "Enter" key or left-mouse button. But if you want to get through gobs of text stupid fast, hold down the "CTRL" key. If you want to hide the user interface, hit the "space" key.

Before the story begins, you must enter a name for the protagonist. I chose Wombatta. Wombatta is just getting by, living paycheck to paycheck. Fearing that they'll never find a spouse, Wombatta's parents have arranged a marriage for them. During that night, a succubus (named Lovelia) visits Wombatta. She pulls their pants down, and it was at this moment that I realized. . .

Wombatta is actually a man.

Gee, no wonder Wombatta can't find a girlfriend. Anywho, the succubus lives on a thing called "technoforce", a subject she dances around (but never explicitly defines). She's on a mission to extract a man's technoforce, before returning from whence she came. Problem being, she's ridicilously shy around men. She doesn't trust them one bit, but Wombatta is. . . different. She's willing to take a chance with him, and she offers what little trust she has left.

This can't go wrong at all.

The backgrounds look very high quality. Sometimes, as read the text they will pan around. Though the backgrounds are static, this simple animation makes locations feel just a little bit more alive. There isn't a whole lot of places to see though. You'll end up seeing two towns, two homes, a workplace, and a few transition backgrounds. Although, it's more than a lot of virtual novels I have played.

I was very impressed by the character portraits. They appear to be 3D characters, and very animated. I found Lovelia's reactions as I clicked through the text to be delightful. It's unfortunate that she was the only character model in the game, as I would have liked to have seen the (handful of) other characters rendered as well. She made the slog which is reading not as bad.

Now, let's talk about the full art scenes, or "CGs". They are really something. High budget, beautifully drawn and very sensual. Expect to see borderline nipple slips, and lots and lots of soft, plushy skin. Don't expect any form of nudity of explicit sexual content though. It's a shame, as I imagine it too would have been exceptional.

- Wombat's Note -
It has come to my attention that an adult patch exists (off Steam). I will have to. . . investigate.

This is a sweet (though sour-ending) tale with good visuals. It's really a slice of life, if a coy succubus suddenly joined in. Take this story light heartedly, and I'm sure you'll have a good time. I don't think it's worth as much as it is (given the playtime) at thirteen USD, but keep this game on Wishlist.

You'll want to pick it up.

I am revising this review today. However, I have specified that a patch exists, and my review does not reflect that it has been installed. I hesitate to discuss to the effects of off-site patches, as I firmly believe they should be advertised on the Store page.

But you are right, I'm just now sorting through all of the patches in my reviews that I have not addressed. I haven't installed the this game's patch as of today. I participate in a rigorous review schedule, and I'll admit I'm lazy when I have down time (from Curator "work").

Well for starters you could change the censorship to full nudity with mosaic (patch) legit the day you posted this review i linked the patch page and you still havent looked into it?
DatWombat Mar 2, 2020 @ 11:25am
Sheesh, talk about language . Well, for starters it'd be in my interest to replay the game, and obtain relevant links and information. Additionally, I am working on multiple Curator pages, and I'm still trying to figure out the best way to advertise mods and patches (while still complying with Steam policy).

On a side note, the word "investigation" was more intended for modding this title, as creating and installing mods often comes with a learning curve of sorts.

Why the fuck do you need to investigate. There is a patch from their site for full nudity with mosaic, how hard can it be to understand that?
DatWombat Mar 2, 2020 @ 10:15am
You came at just the right time, I'll need to investigate. Thanks y'alls for dropping links.

I've played thorugh the game with the patch so you can just change it to yes.

I need to look into the patch. I became aware of it shortly after posting this review.

I didn't look for spelling errors in-game, but one thing did bother me (a lot). There are no spaces between letters and commas, and there's a lot of commas in this game.

The trailer is full of shoddy syntax and grammar, but what about the in-game stuff?
