i didn't pay a single dime. Hearthstone is far more p2w nowadays. MTG: arena not even supports Mac.
But this one is gold, mac+win+ios+android all platforms even Xbox!

For a free card collect game, it is really generous. You will get the cards you need eventually. I would say farm for 2~3 month, you'll get enough tier1 decks to cover the rank mode.

And beyond the game, Dire Wolf is a good game studio. It deserves more players and attention.
