Honestly, I play and have played a metric ton of RPG's JRPG'S and a smattering of other things that could on drunken days in a blizzard be considered a mixture of both. This is one of the most refreshing pieces of art I have handled in a long time. I am only 4 hours in, but that was 4 hours that I sat down and didn't realize my morning had passed by because I was enthralled. If you truly enjoy the masterpieces of your childhood and enjoy the fact that you can't cakewalk and steamroll everything. Then this is totally worth what you spend for it. Hell I've played $30 indie rpg's and whatnot that don't even sit on the same shelf in my playlist. Good story, Fun combat, Quirky characters, interactions with npc's. For the price of a cup of coffee you can have something that will keep you entertained for hours.
