You know how people say that something is like being stranded in the middle of a desert with nothing but a polluted/poisonous well to drink from? In a weird sort of sense, it is the same with life except that there is one place that is literally a natural spring of water that is never polluted or poisonous. The people can turn away from it and wander the deserts all they want, but in the end they crawl back to the spring on their hands and knees. Free will in a sense, but the only way to truly survive is to stick with the spring. The man-made wells that you find scattered about the desert are either polluted or will only cause greater thirst. Some of these wells even go as far as making you dependent on its poisonous waters.

If you can understand what this parable is of, then good for you. It took me some years to understand what it is about.

It all begins with that first step forward. Oftentimes it is difficult for a human to make that first step, which is where another (often influential and/or powerful) person goes into play. Their actions, or lack thereof, can bring effects that can make that first step just a little bit easier to take. It doesn't necessarily require the action to be good. Only that it is done or not done and causes events that tip the scales enough for one or more people to act.
What would happen after? I do not know. Just know that one person (any person) is enough to bring change to the world. Be it salvation or extinction. Just ask the guy who caused a major event to happen.
