EDIT: I just read that the developers finally included a setting to enable smooth turning in the options menu. The fix i provided in my review seems not to be needed anymore.

****************************

Listen up INDEX users!

The movement control scheme must have slipped out of a hell portal it is so so bad.
No locomotion on default and no smooth turning. The "no smooth turning" thing is not something you can fix in the options. They designed the controls in a way that you CANNOT turn vision with the controllers you always have to move your head or entire body. I am still impressed by the stupidity of this design choice. But what is even more impressive is the ...

SOLUTION:

This genius "Wiinii" guy made a profile for index controllers. It is called "Smooth Turning + Proper!". BUT, you have to edit a setting using console commands because, as said before, there is no axis defined for turning.
And here is what you do:
1. Start DoomVFR
2. Enter any campaign mission (IMPORTANT, it does not work in the menu!)
3. Take headset off and go to your desktop
4. Press the "^" key on your keyboard. For me it is the key right under the Escape button. This should open the console.
5. Copy paste the following command line into the console:
bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_AXIS2 _lookLeft; bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_AXIS3 _lookRight; bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_AXIS4 _jump; bind STEAMVR_PRIMARY_A _weapnext; bind STEAMVR_SECONDARY_A _weapprev
6. Go into the Steam VR menu and activate "Smooth Turning + Proper!" profile for you index controllers
Enjoy!

You will see that most negative reviews complain, and rightfully so, about the controls. But this problem wont bother you now any more. All fixed in under 5 minutes.

A shame indeed. I guess they were so disappointed with the reception of the game, that nobody from development is touching it anymore, or would be paid to do so.

I am sure you won't go wrong while this game is on a deep discount. It is pretty short however. Took me only 3.5 hours to complete it with 100 % achievements. And i am neither a good doom player, nor a VR shooter specialist.

But I only played on easy or normal difficulty and feel like i should give it another go on hard. It is good enough that it makes me want to come back.

What a shame that this is necessary. I'll ultimately pick this up because for less than $5 that workaround is no biggie, but it just feels like this is so simple to fix in-house.
