Pretty solid game that holds up today (2024) as well. My main criticism would be about the progression - a lot of it revolves around getting and upgrading new weapons, but there’s little to motivate the player to continue with new weapons (especially towards the end).

An all around solid game: great story, level design, combat, progression. The game keeps you interested all the way to the end, with lots of variety in the levels and a well designed reward loop. Highly recommend!

A fun metroidvania with good combat mechanics and progression.

Some of the bosses I found to be a bit tedious, and the map isn't particularly helpful sometimes, but otherwise I had a positive experience with the game.

An enjoyable game! This has a blend of elements from various open-world games (e.g. God of War, Dark Souls), while introducing a novel mechanic of switching between characters. I would recommend!

Honestly there were quite a few places where I felt I got stuck just because I didn't know that something was interactable, or required a pixel-perfect interaction. Also, the end game was quite buggy (though nothing game-breaking).

Nevertheless, on the whole I thought this was an enjoyable experience and would recommend.

This was my first playthrough of Braid. I've heard about the game but didn't play it yet, so when the remake came out I figured it's a good opportunity. Everything went great for me, so I would recommend!

An excellent metroidvania! This game brings a unique twist with the idea of connecting islands to unlock new areas, which complements the exploration very well. This was well executed with great visuals and satisfying progression. Would recommend!

Harold Halibut has an excellent story, visual, and audio design. The strength and uniqueness of these aspects are enough for me to recommend it. This was a great experience to gradually play through.

That said, this is more of an interactive movie than a game. That is perfectly fine, but you should know that is what you're getting into. It is a lot of long cutscenes with a mostly linear sequence of tasks in between. There is no strategy, risk/reward, or typical game mechanics as dictated by conventional game design wisdom. Through that lens, it would be said that the development effort was invested more on art and story design than gameplay design. Nevertheless, I think that the developers did an excellent job with what they were trying to do, and I would recommend giving it a go.
