Hey, one of my team members has been following stonehearth quite a bit. Do you realize they have one building working, and chopping down trees? The rest of what they are showing is prerendered videos. I thought that may be the case, but it was recently confirmed. We are a little over a month into our project and are ahead of that in some areas, and not far away from others. I guess a lot of their 18 months development has been making those proof of concept prerendered scenes. In a way I am glad I don't know how to make a prerendered scene. This is pretty common. I know a developer of another Kickstarter project that his team got around $150K (didn't reach their goal) and they didn't have a single line of code written. I approach it a bit different, I plan to have something that is somewhat playable before I publicly announce anything...

My son is getting good at modeling, but I couldn't give you a 3D rendered scene of what my game should look like (which is what a lot of the Stoneheart screens are... maybe all of them...)... so anything I show is actually running in code. I've been hard at it for about 3 months working on my terrain system... I had a breakthrough in terms of constructing any objects I might want from different sized voxels (including shapes other than cubes) this week though. This opened the door to a lot of potential... I'm pretty excited. That's why I had to post something here. You posted on my profile about Stoneheart. I wanted t return the favor. When I mod someone elses game I am limited by what their game can do. When I make my own I don't have such limitations. I can find ways to remove limitations with time. Also, I have something to show for it after the amount of time.

It has been a productive week. I pretty much determined how to do EVERYTHING that stonehearth does in my own current project in terms of art, making my own things, etc. I do it different. So, there is no real reason for me to mod that. I am getting some nice tools in place... I plan to start with something along the lines of Dwarf Fortress/Gnomoria/Dungeon Keeper that is multiplayer with multiple races and through time build that into something to replace Harvest of Souls. :) So, I am moving along... the difference being I do all of my stuff in photoshop or code.

You and I interacted in a number of different places. I am the author of NPC ACTIVITIES, RTS - Harvest of Souls, and the horse scripts for Wyvern Crown of Cormyr, and the final Neverwinter Nights patch 1.69. I recognized your handle because it always makes me thing of the phrase "On the Otherhand"
