A Grand Theft Auto, Blade Runner, DeusEx, The Matrix, Ghost in the Shell, Shadow Warrior, mashup; that's the feeling I have while playing Cyberpunk. It's futuristic nature and grand scale add to the allure. With all the shiny glitz and pomp the story and music really drive the addiction for me. The arc, takes you where you've never been, introduces you to people who become as close to family as you can have in a game, and all that, pulls you in and won't let go.

The skill tree is unique. It's the way in the game to build your character meaningfully and level up. The interesting aspect of it is, you can't balance across all skills, you have to focus on specifics. That makes all the difference. Handguns in this game are wild, but paired with your own cyber implants, it goes wild. Smart weapons are fun, hacking them is funner!

Night City is vast. It's fun to explore. While exploring, the radio creates an ambiance that's almost soothing. I rarely find myself fast traveling anywhere as a result.

This game has been reviewed many many times, so it's impossible to add anything unique here. I will say however, whether this game intentionally did this or not, it instills a sense of loneliness. Everywhere you go in the game, you're surrounded by people but usually alone. When you connect with another in the story-line, they always leave or die. Again, I don't know if this was intentional, but it's a feeling that follows you everywhere in the game, and it adds weight to everything you do, every decision you make, and every happy, or otherwise, event.

This game still has bugs, and they are often noticeable, but for all it's flaws, after having played for some time, I personally feel as though this has created an entirely new genre of game-play that will be mimicked for many years to come.

Trepang two feels like a mashup of old school FPS games, mixed with some new game-play mechanisms, finished off with overall uniqueness. The games that come to mind for me with Trepang that provide influence are games like Wolfenstein, Left4Dead, DeusX, Control, and a few others.

I've only played the campaign mode in Trepang. Given that I can't speak to multiplayer capability. The campaign mode starts off with the hero, breaking out of his/her prison cell in a high security facility, that on the surface appears to be a prison. From that fairly normal start of a game, things quickly evolve and unveil some truths as to who the hero is, why the hero was in prison and what supernatural elements are associated with the main hero that makes them special.

Without giving too much detail away, the game delves into scifi, zombie, cultist, hardcore military and other elements as the hero progresses through one mission to the next.

Being fairly new to this game, there is a little confusion for me on the campaign mode, as the missions are, from what I can tell nonlinear and are picked in the mission briefing room. New missions become available as missions are completed. This is a little weird because, from mission to mission, the story and elements can vary widely, which at times, leads to a disjointed nonlinear feeling of imbalance, is the best way I can put it.

Game-play is sooo smooth in this game. It's important to note however, the slide kick and grab (F key) are huge factors tied to health and staying alive. It's therefore imperative to key bind these in a comfortable way, and to practice, practice, practice. During missions, enemies will spawn in "waves", depending on the difficulty level chose, a wave can be either super intense, or insane. There are very few missions where even easy difficulty, is easy. So, plan on being constantly challenged by this game, in a most unrelenting, intense, and sometimes insane way. Mind your guns and ammo at all times. While engaging with enemies, try to keep up with getting new ammo, and armor while engaged, otherwise you run out of either of those, you die. Find a gun that works for you and stick with it, too.

Character progression, from what I have been able to tell, is quite good. You start out with very little in the way of armament, and gain more as you finish more missions. Same goes for knowledge. There are a lot of files that you will run across in the game, pick them up, they help tell the story of how you got to where you are at that moment, and where you're going. If you skip this stuff you will miss out on a big part of the overall game.

I still have quite a way to go before I finish the campaign. I will more than likely kill a few keyboards out of frustration along the way, but it's all good. This game is intense in a lot of really good ways, and those few moments of frustration are a small price to pay for this little gem. Overall, playing this is very enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to what comes next from this developer!

Early Access Review
This game, while innovative and interesting, is simply....too difficult....yes, that's from a BOOMER who LOVES booomer SHOOTERS...this game is too hard, not fun, and sucks in general. Sorry, but that's really the case here!

The start of this game was pretty amusing, and a great way to ease into the overall atmosphere of the experience. Then, it goes and it's very run and gun heavy when it does. You literally can not stand still or you will die, during fights. In one sense it's expected and okay, because that's a part of this franchise, but then you have other elements of stealth that were introduced that almost act as a contradiction to the fighting dynamic.

To me, I found this to be a little odd, kind of like they were trying to do everything, but it wasn't cohesively thought through. The breakouts to the original game during the dream scenes were fun, and maintaining the ties to the occult as part of the overall backstory was also great. What would have been spectacular though, would have been to bring back the amulet of power and the veil, I miss the veil from the first revamp, that was a great way to bring all the magic together and add a solid cohesiveness to the story and game play.

Zombies, were fun to see, and combat, but it felt a little cliche, since zombies aren't really a unique thing anymore, but it's okay. That's kind of the thing with this title, there's throwbacks and new story elements, but nothing really unique. If that pipe we started out with was the amulet of power, this game would have been next level. Bethesda, please, bring the veil back!

Overall this is a fun game, the final boss scene glitches a lot at the end, and the game is kind of short, but overall I still recommend this. If you're into the franchise at all, this will keep you interested until the end.

This is an extremely immersive experience. When I purchased this game, I didn't quite know what to expect, there were some good reviews, but nothing really explaining the "what" of this game experience. And oh boy, what a "what" this game offers. The story is so compelling, and it pulls you entirely in, from the beginning. From the start, it has you wondering, about the source of the occult like or even extraterrestrial nature of the experience you're in. As you explore the game, the mechanics of it are something on the scale of next level, with abilities, mixed with capabilities, mixed with manual skill, mixed with other worldly type dynamics.

This game, starts you off with little hints about it, and how to play, it provides enough to allow you to gain some footing, but it doesn't share too much around strategies that may or may not work in your favor. The game leaves that up to you to figure out. Initially, I approached this game like any FPS or Third Person Shooter, but that's not what this game is and that won't work. There's a level of thoughtfulness required to navigate this game, and by no means, am I an expert at that capability with this game. The developers, however, made this game just challenging enough to be challenging, but not so difficult that one would stop playing out of frustration.

That doesn't make this game boring, or easy, however, it just makes this game and the possibilities in it amplify accordingly. There's an extensive set of configurations that lend an infinite amount of variety to the playable nature of this game, and the replay capabilities. I found out, after hitting some roadblocks in the game, you will most likely reference some walk through material for some tips, I know I did a few times. Also, as you begin to understand how to balance your skills against the challenges of the game, you will find yourself aligning your skills strategically, which really can help with making the experience overall, excellent.

This game, is so thoughtful, beautiful, and the story line, is so mysterious. It's a great game, overall, Remedy Entertainment has a new fan. I'll be finishing this game at some point and will, undoubtedly, be playing the DLCs and anything else this publisher has produced.

If you have any take away desires from this game, I suspect it will be twofold. First, this card game is unlike any you have played before and, as such, is most likely going to be infinitely enjoyable and extremely hard not to play. Second, once you have a taste for this game, you will desire to see this being offered on vacation in Vegas or in your town's local entertainment venues. Yes, the game is really that good, and has brought a positive new spin to card games.

Great game, great story line. Rarely write reviews, however, this is a pretty much fully immersive world that pulls you in and keeps you interested. Highly recommend.
