In the molten depths of the rocky dry lands far from the civilized world. The hour is late and thick fog makes it hard to see anything but the glow of molten rock across the landscape. Looking towards the distance horizon bright flashes fill the fog in a large area emanating from what seems to be a deep crack in Ragnarok mountain. The ringing sound of metalwork with the cadence of a blacksmith. Each strike a ominous flash fills the land followed by booming sounds of crackling thunder. It's very loud even at this distance. As we move closer the smell of metal and sulfur permeate. Consistent flashes of ominous light cast a shadow on the rocky walls of a man. Large parts of flesh are missing exposed bone and his beating heart clearly visible. Each strike on the luminescent forge brings a blinding light and a thunderous crack so loud it's difficult to tolerate. The figure of a man appears to have been at this for a long time. Broken hammers litter the ground in what seems to be hundreds. What drives this abomination to continue this torturous exercise? Does this thing live? Is he cursed? Abrupt silence and sudden darkness. It's impossible to see after those flashes as the brightness has stained our vision. Our eyes adjust and a faint glow fills the cave. The forge crumbles as if made of stone and a magnificent looking gem starts to rise into the air on it's own. The man reaches out towards the gem his hands bone and blood. As he touches the gem the ground shakes and the gem dissipates and melts as if made of a thin sheet of ice. The man starts to transform as his skin regrows and before long he appears young. His bone no longer exposed and even the clothing he wears seem to have been restored. After the transformation the cave was once again completely dark. One asks bravely who are you and how was this done? Nothing answers but a faint light starts to fill the cave. We turn back to look behind us as the sun rises and fills the area with light. A gasp! Amazement and confusion our minds can't seem to understand what lay in front of us. The cave. It's empty. The hammers in the hundreds are gone. The ground fine clean sand. The man is missing. But near the cave wall a faint sparkle on the ground just barely visible. Oh my! A fragment of the gem seems to have survived.
