tl;dr: Well-made dungeon romp/shopkeeper game with monotony setting in a bit too early. +1 for linux support.

General/Pro:
Moonlighter is an interesting mix between a dungeon crawling action game ala Binding Of Isaac (or similar ones) and a game about managing a store. Perhaps another game it comes close to is Recettear, which also combines those two kinds of games.

At night, you go adventuring in the dungeons, collecting all kinds of items. And during the day you then sell those items.

One funny and unique twist is that this game has inventory puzzles. Literally. Some items have random modifiers applied to them, so when put into your inventory, they would cause other items in a certain direction to disappear, others to be sent home, others to break after you receive some damage and others to remove said modifiers. So you will be thinking about how to best shuffle around your inventory while in the dungeons.

Selling also isn't totally straightforward, as you have to make sure not to over/underprice things, keep thieves away and try to fulfill special orders. It is enough to keep your interest during these sections, but don't expect a Capitalism sequel here.

The graphics are incredibly charming and partly very cute (especially the human characters). Animations are fluid, dungeons very recognizable and everything has a nice flow to it.

As always, native linux support is highly welcome and also well done, no audio or graphics bugs at all.

Contra:
The biggest problem of the game is the lack of new gameplay mechanics in the dungeons.
You will have found your weapon of choice, armor of choice and general play style within the first dungeon.
And the next 4 dungeons will not change anything about that formula other than making enemies deal more damage and have more HP - so that you need to upgrade as well.
What is missing here are new abilities, both on your and the enemies' side and new mechanics to the dungeons themselves to keep things fresh, but as I said that unfortunately doesn't happen. Monotony sets in at some point.

Another problem lies in the music. It isn't bad, don't get me wrong.
But by now when I hear the town or shop music, I get annoyed, because there really doesn't seem to be another track playing.

The game does have a few bugs, e.g. you have to do "xset -r" in a terminal when playing on linux or the keys won't stay pressed. Or some enemies can bug out, trapping you in the dungeon.
Nothing major that cannot be worked around, but annoying nonetheles.

Conclusion:
If you like the graphics, dungeon crawling and games like Recettear or (the old 2D) Zelda, go right ahead.
Just maybe be prepared that the game won't last for thirty hours until a bit too much repetition sets in.
