Two giants of the Western Classical Music world. While both were German composers, Beethoven was born 20 years after the death of Bach. Each of them suffered their own crippling malady; Bach increasingly went blind while Beethoven lost his hearing beginning at age 26. He still managed to compose what many consider one of the greatest works in Western Classical Music, his Symphony No. 9; while almost completely deaf.
