Positives:

• Massive world
  
• Huge amount of content
  
• Always something to do
  
• Not too difficult to get into compared to some other MMOs.
  
• Friendly players
  
• Fun aspects like Instant Adventures, Nightmare Rifts, and Zone Events.

Negatives:

• Very low amount of Bank/Storage space during early game.
  
• Cannot sell items to other players on the ingame Marketplace/Auction House without buying Premium currency. However, you can grind and trade with players outside of the Auction House to build up ingame currency which you can then use to buy Premium currency off of the Marketplace.
  
• Lots of content/expansions behind paywalls.
  
• Population isn't as high as other MMOs but there are still a healthy amount of players.

Wouldn't avoid this game based solely on the microtransactions/"P2W" aspects, still a boatload of fun and plenty of content to enjoy. Even more content now that they have released the expansion for free.

Don't be afraid to give it a shot.
