This game desperately wants to be Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, but doesn't have the wit or charm to create a story even remotely as engaging, and the gameplay is just a frustrating, grinding mess of constant reloads if you want to take even a remotely moral option. The only way to reliably level up is to just eat people constantly. The developers shouldn't have put the option to be moral in the game if they weren't going to make it enjoyable.

I will update this review when i am able to actually play the game.

"It's launch day, don't expect to be able to play the game" isn't something gamers should just blithely accept, or to try to get other gamers to accept.

Portal works because there is a limited possibility space and the number of things you have to keep track of at once is limited. Adding time travel makes the game infinitely more complicated for no additional entertainment value.

Briefly: you should buy this game if you like Half Life, if you like first-person shooters, and/or if you like fan projects.

Downsides that should be noted: if you have epilepsy, you should be cautious about this game, as there are several sections with flashing lights. Certain sections outstay their welcome. Major offenders are the last part of Forget About Freeman before the Lambda Complex and the Alien Grunt factory in Xen, which drag considerably. I also experienced a few bugs on level transitions that cause you to spawn stuck in level geometry, and a couple of states in which quicksaves would instantly crash the game, forcing me to reload from the start of the level.

Other than that, this is a solid game made by a dedicated group of developers, and definitely deserves your money.

Do you have to kill FAST?

Are your bullets too SLOW?

This is a conundrum that has haunted humanity for aeons. But throughout history, no-one had the courage to ask the simple question: "what if I could PUNCH MY BULLETS to MAKE THEM GO FASTER?"

No-one, that is, until Hakita.

Do not buy this game. It's not for you. Having spent nearly two days of my life playing it, the only available evidence points to a confusing fact: the developers hate you, and do not want you to enjoy their game. I have never seen a game that acts with such open and gloating contempt towards its own players.

It starts at character customisation. There are six "Origin Characters," characters who have a detailed plotline already laid out for them within the game world. Either you have to pick one of these six characters, or the custom character you potentially spent a lot of time creating has no connection to the world and no plot hooks within it.

The level up system also allows you great freedom of choice but punishes you for building along any line the developers didn't intend. Of the many and varied builds that you should be able to make, only a few actually work.

It all boils down to: the developers love to kill you without any warning.

The game's "tactical combat" is a joke - its main trick is to throw waves of enemies at you after letting you believe you were going to be fighting only three or four enemies, or surprising you with six or seven when you had no idea you'd be fighting any at all. To make things worse, the game's targeting system is exceptionally finicky leading to your characters missing abilities not because of a percentage diceroll but because you clicked on the wrong pixel.

I have had it explained to me by my friends that "Divnity is a great game if you try to ignore the combat," to which I point out that this isn't a good trait for a TACTICAL COMBAT VIDEOGAME.

Divinity isn't an open-world game but is also dreadful at communicating what it is that you're supposed to be doing, leaving you confused about where and how to complete extremely vague mission objectives in its expansive but empty maps. There's far too much backtracking to places you've already been.

The story is incoherent, badly-written and poorly paced. It throws a lot of concepts at you without even trying to explain what they are, and doesn't provide a useful or accessible way to find that information.

There are far better uses of your money. Can't wait to see them ruin D&D as well.

I bit the bullet and upgraded to Windows 10 just for this game, which, allow me to assure you, took more than a minute.Imagine my disappointment.

The game introduces the time travel mechanic in a mission that involves a stealth section in an RTS game.

Stealth sections in RTS games should be banned under human rights statutes.

Fantastic scenery, awesome new visuals and a surprisingly good story. I never thought "cosmic horror" and "wedding comedy" were genres you could mix together, but they did it.
