I have changed this review a lot during the games life but might as well leave it like that.
The game started extremely strong in its life-cycle and continued to disappoint with every following patch.

Unfortunately the cons overwhelm the pros to leave a positive review and I don't think the game will have its "revival" judging by the gameplay designers.

Pros:

- Extremely fun coop shooter
- Awesome gameplay
- Intriguing meta-game - having a lore/game master and developing a story is unseen and IMO - the best live-service game on the market.

Cons:

- Abysmal performance on PC - the game was passable on release but the performance keeps tanking after every patch to literally having half the FPS. (I was locking the game to 140fps on a 4090 and rarely saw it dip below that. Nowadays - 80-100fps is normal for just running around in a mission)
They have at least acknowledged that but I haven't seen any positive change in the last 4 months.

- Overnerfs of any usable weapon - I may sound like a broken record but if you have fun with a weapon - it will get nerfed eventually. Devs don't understand that high pick rate = overpowered. High pick rate usually stems from necessity because 95% of the weapons/airstrikes are abysmal to use. Those nerfs don't make the game harder but slower, more annoying and frankly - less fun to play.

- Lack of meaningful progression - we might have their version of season passes/progression trees - but 90% of them are useless trinkets that no-one cares about. The game can expand so much with so little effort - weapons skins, attachments, optics, magazines, armor skins, strategem variations and so on.

- Bugs - no, not the enemy, just straight software bugs.
We had misaligned scope for a sniper for 3 months.
Since release - one of the enemies (Titan) is invulnerable during one of his attacks (bile spit). Why - because he would kill himself and their solution is to make him unvulnerable during that time - something that players who don't read reddit/watch youtube won't have the slightest idea.
Some of the "known bugs" section of their patches are up there since launch.
What about you doing 1 less damage if you are standing still or waling backwards? No, that is not a joke, every weapon does 1 less point of damage if you are not moving forward due to how the game calculates distance. Although it may not seem like much - imaging a rocket doing 650 damage. Now - an enemy has 650 health - exactly to be balanced for that rocket to take 1 hit. Well, if you are standing still - good luck, you are doing 649 damage and the enemy will be left with 1HP. Easily fixed by just giving every weapon like +1 or +5 extra damage, literally a 5 min job on some config file somewhere.

- Strange gameplay design decisions - There is this huge armored enemy bug (Charger) with a mushy looking backside. Where should you shoot? Of course, in the back. That's what me and my friends though and shot him with all of our weapons in the back on the exposed side taking literally 10 seconds of 4 people with assault rifles to kill. "well, he is one tough fella" we though. Until we saw that actually the mushy looking thing has 90% damage reduction and you actually have to shoot at his extremely armored horn looking head with a rocket to one-shot him. Or use a flamethrower on his leg to kill in 1.5 second. Or hit his back leg joints (not front legs of course, why would you) with a sniper for a 3 shot kill. Something that wouldn;t be possible to know if you are not watching youtube/reddit.
Bug enemies are filled with these honestly absurd decisions. And even more strange - the robots are made perfectly - small/medsize glowing parts that are indeed their weakspot.

- Matchmaking/friend requests - something that probably should be on their prio list - matchmaking/friend requests/join to friends is inconsistent and doesn't work.
I usually play with 1 friend and we have no problems starting a match and 2 people will join fairly shortly. However - after those 2 leave - the game will take absurd amount to fill those slots, even sometimes won't fill them at all.
Solution - if we restart the game session - our lobby populates instantly.
Although I have not experienced it - a lot of players are reporting issues with not being able to join their friends. On a coop game!

- Crashing - I put this to last because to their credit - this problem is 99% solved for me.
There were some months however where I was crashing 3 out of 5 games. The first note of the last 10 patches is always "fixed crashing issue when ...". I have had a more stable experience with Fallout 4 with 400+ mods.

To sum up - game is fun, it was an overnight success but the devs bit more than they can chew.
What should have happened - add new weapons, add some new enemies, push the story, make small balancing changes, add enemies, squash bugs and TEST before pushing the new update and game would have been miles better now. It was a fun summer shooter but now we are entering the autumn busy game calendar and unfortunately I don't see the game lasting more. God I hope I am wrong.

A very fun game to play through. The soundtrack is awesome, the art style very well goes with the game theme. The graphics are a little bit outdated (even at release day). The humor is awesome and in typical metal-rock style. Most of the game it is a third person hack and slash, however the boss battles are set like RTS, where you fly above an arena and control the battle, your goal being to destroy the enemy base (concert stage). Enjoyed my time with it.

Really great game. At the start it may become a little bit stale, but after you loot more and more awesome weapons the game really shines. In my opinion it has the best loot system in the series that rewarded exploration rather than grinding.
In any other aspect Borderlands 2 is far better. DLC packs are extremely enjoyable, so you might think to pick up the GOTY edition. If you prefer 1 by 1, I'd avoid only Moxxi's Underdome, since it is separated to 3 arenas with 3 difficulty levels where you kill a lot of people but you don't get rewarded accordingly. Still fun for half an hour.

A very good addition to complete the story that started in AC2.
