As for proms, they are overrated. Went to 3 of them. 2 were very fun, but still, meh... expensive too.

Why was that?
Proms are formal dances for high schoolers. It's not degenerate in and of itself, even if there's a Twerking infestation in the modern day dance hall. Kids love it. I was not allowed to attend my high school prom.
"Prom," or, "Promenade," is a high school dance prevalent in American culture. In this context, i think it's a moderation bypass for the word said at exactly 1:24 of Valve's "Meet the Spy."
