Tips for new traders (press "View more info")

I've been asked about how to trade by a lot of people who are new to the trading scene so I thought I'd make this up.

Start at a reasonable amount of inventory value.
This is in my opinion the #1 most important tip for anyone getting into trading, hence the reason it's first. I cannot stress the importance of this enough. Trading has become much tougher now, meaning that it is no longer possible, without extreme luck, to go from "Nothing to a knife". I recommend starting at around 20+ keys - at that point, you'll be able to flip some skins for a key or two of profit.

Know prices.
In order to make profit, you have to know the value of the item that you're trying to flip. Use steamanalyst for average prices to avoid getting fucked over by market spikes. When I started out, I flipped a lot of FN AWP Lightning Strikes because I knew their prices well.

Use reddit.
Reddit is, in my opinion, the best way to make profit through trading. Make a reddit account and join the /r/globaloffensivetrade subreddit.

If you're a lower tier trader (5-10 key range) the best way to make profit, although it takes a while, is to flip case hardends. You'll need to know what patterns are easy to make profit off of.
