Activision just shot this game like it was Imran Zakhaev.

This game is basically a stain on CoD4's legacy. It was a slipshod remaster when it came out, and proceeded to die in a hole. Activision is a husk of what it once was. It is now an entity that knows only corporate greed and has no respect for its past achievements.

What ISN'T wrong with the situation faced by this game today?

With H2M, MWR was given a new life, and this had nothing to do with Activision. More people online than any time after launch.

Oh, and don't play it if you own it, either. I learned yesterday that this title suffers from the same exploit as other older CoD games: a HACKER (not a cheater) can grab your IP, crash your game, and infect your PC with malware via the multiplayer.
H2M would have fixed this blatantly illegal crap, but no, the game is now literally unplayable.

I hope Activision has to file for chapter 11 by the end of the decade so this franchise can die in peace.

Oh, and they're asking $40 for a 17 year old game remaster with microtransactions that weren't in the original. Despicable.

EDIT: Steam rejected my refund request. I bought this last week and wanted to prep for H2M. Got DDoS'd the day before the C&D and quit playing. Steam, by keeping this game listed, is enabling hackers to engage in network and malware attacks on their users without a disclaimer on the store page. They have a guilty role in this problem, albeit less so than Activision. Delist these older CoD titles. They can come back when Activision fixes the security problems.
