I write this update in respond to the events Overkill announced following the '15 Crimefest. I never thought my profile picture describes my face now so well. If you need a tl;dr:

Veterans: Refrain from playing, now. There is no point in supporting business practices that will turn this game into what it orginally was against. Update your review, quit the steam group, play the long con, and don't even budge until the devs think straight.

New players: This is a co-op heisting game, which sounds fun, and it is, until you are asked to pay for half a dozen DLCs to keep yourself up to speed. On top of that, the devs just wound up a pay 2 win ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. There are surely better alternatives for you to spend money elsewhere for now.

Knew it, I just knew it.

Last DLC pack I own was the Butcher CAR/AK mod pack. Pretty much the last pack I think was worth. Skipped Yakuza, diamond, alesso, golden grin, completely overkill and overkill pack, and the bomb.

Ever since THE Diamond was out I smelled something. Packs were carrying less value for money, and appears to be less earnestly made. More quantity, less quality, higher price. The Yakuza Pack was the first that even comes with just a character and 2 weapons with no heists at all. I was thinking Overkill was at an all time low there, but since they've said they have more than 20 months to support I thought they'll pick it up. Right before Crimefest 15 I was even a little pumped for rejoining the fun after 1 month of resting.

How mistaken I was.

The only thing good about the black market update was it was there first ever attempt to overhaul a majority of weapons in this game, DLC and non-DLC included. But that's about it. Weapons went grossly overpowered, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The weapon skins, resembling that of the CSGO system unsettlingly, is hidden inside safes that you get from card drops. And the drill that takes to open the safes you got costs money. Real money. Well pure cosmetics was fine by me. But worst of all, skins modifies weapon stats. So yes, this game is P2W now. And to think that the base game cost money too? This screams cash grab for any new player who doesn't know better.

This is not healthy for the community. What we'll be seeing is overpriced +stats skins selling on Steam trade and scams everywhere in no time. Veteran players who saw the better times of this game *will* leave and that drains the playerbase of quality.

This game was good. Back when Overkill called themselves indie, they deserved it. They were engaging, ambitious, focused, and caring. I put so many hours into this game, everyday for at least 2 hours. Now, half of the contents are behind a paywall and if it isn't enough, P2W elements are right by the corner to even further the disparity. I didn't find a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ so large I have to put in 15 minutes to write something here, I am a quiet person online. I will not be playing this game anymore until they attempt to remedy this situation. That is, to eliminate P2W in any way, shape or form, once and for all. Almir would need to be explicit about this and not go around in circles again. This is serious.

I will be withdrawing my subscription from the steam community, and be posting the same review over Metacritic. Just so more of you know what's up. Until then, wish you luck Overkill.
