The Good News is that somebody loves you. Moreover, that somebody loves you so much that He willingly died for you - His name is Jesus Christ. The Bible says that, "God demonstrated His love for you in that while you were yet a sinner He gave Jesus Christ to die for you." (Romans 5:8).

You may be saying, "Well that's cool but I've never asked anyone to die for me, much less Jesus Christ! Why in the world would He do that?" GOOD QUESTION!

THE ANSWER: The Bible teaches that every single person is a sinner. The word sin literally means 'to miss the mark'. God is the One who has set the mark, or standard, and He has set it at perfection. So if you are anything less than perfect then you are a sinner. Don't worry, I am in this category too, in fact, the Bible says in Romans 3:23, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

SO WHAT?! Well, the major bummer and the big deal are the results of sin. Sin separates us from God. Romans 6:23 says that, "The wages of sin is death..." This is bad news since we are all sinners. But wait, there is a second part to Romans 6:23 which says, "...but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus." Did you see that? Eternal life is through Jesus Christ.

OH YEAH...JESUS! Yeah, Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins...He took God's judgment in our place. As I said before, He truly loves you. Jesus paid what He did not owe so that you would no longer owe what you could not pay - the debt of sin.

WOW! That's right. Now, because Jesus paid for all of our sins we can freely be forgiven by God for all of our sins - past, present, and future - and thus have the sin problem eliminated and thereby be connected with God. John 3:16-17 states, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." God's Son is Jesus Christ.

SO... If you recognize that you are a sinner and that Jesus is the solution to the sin problem, then you have a decision to make. You can either reject God's solution and pay for your own sins on the Day of Judgment, or you can turn from your sins and turn to God (repent) and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Jesus said, "You are either for Me or against Me." There is no middle ground or third option.

WHAT MUST BE DONE? All you have to do to get the free gift of eternal life is receive it! The invitation is clear and the decision is yours. John 1:12 states, "For as many as received Him (that is Jesus), to them He gave the right to become the children of God."
