I have loved city builders since I was a kid. I stopped playing them as an adult though because the open-endedness gave me a lot of anxiety. It's hard for me to get into a game knowing there is no ceiling on how much of my time it might take

Against the storm seems to have been designed just for people like me. It's a city builder with a lot of resource management that feels pulled straight out of the RTS genre, but each game of it is "complete" after an hour or two. It gives you the best of both worlds by allowing you to continue if you build a settlement you're really attached to.

Just a wonderfully designed game that is a joy to play. It's a genre that typically doesn't work for people without a lot of time, but this game makes it work. Highly recommended!
