It's a scam. I'd been using it for a few years. Suddenly it started telling me I have a free version. And since then every single time I move a window between screens it crashes. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I tried reinstalling, updating. Nothing helps. I messaged the support over a month ago and still no response.

UPDATE:
The newest 1.23.11 update fixed the license and the crashing issues. But it still took like 3 months to fix. Even tho the program is great and I love it I won't remove the negative review until at least I get a response to the e-mail I sent to their support on this matter OVER 2 MONTHS AGO.

The idea for the game is great but people behind it are just super bad.

With every update they make the game more and more pay-to-win.

They are so against cheaters they ban people for everything. I mean literally everything. All bans are permament. And their anticheat is awful.
You got a score too high? Autoban.
You played for too long? Autoban.
You played too fast? Autoban.
You played too good? Autoban.

Just google how many cases of top players being mass banned there were in the history of the game. Or just players trying to beat a high score in one of the game modes and being automatically banned after getting a really good score.

A year ago I bought a Steam Controller (if you don't know what it is and how it works - google) and decided to play this game with it. 2 days later I got banned for hacking.

I messaged their support. It took them 3 MONTHS to respond. They said they don't tolerate cheaters in their game because cheaters are bad and my ban is permament. But they also said I (a bad cheater) can create a new account if I want and spend the money again. They pointed me to the article THAT THEY CHANGED AFTER BANNING ME.
I knew they may do something shady so I took snapshots of it.

This is the version before banning me:
https://web.archive.org/web/20200831164954/https://gemsofwar.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000348076-Hacking-or-cheating-in-Gems-of-War

And this is the version after banning me:
https://web.archive.org/web/20200917233527/https://gemsofwar.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000348076-Hacking-or-cheating-in-Gems-of-War

I was banned on 2020-07-02 and they changed the article on 2020-09-08. They added "Custom controller mappings for special controller buttons outside of the standard controller button functions" to the list of things they consider as cheating. Coincidence?

It took the support another 6 MONTHS to respond again with the same "automated" message.

The community is also awful. They are a toxic circle jerk. Acting like they are better than everyone else.
In my old guild I joked that "it could be cheaper to hire someone from a low income country like Bangladesh to play the game and farm stuff for you rather than buying it in game". The guild owner jumped on me that I'm a racist and kicked me from his guild. He also put me on some kind of "global blacklist" so I was banned from joining every top guild in the game for being a racist.

2000 hours I spent in this game were a huge waste of time. 0 positive memories. Only 1 new friend gained that sadly killed herself (before I was even banned), the toxic community didn't help her cause at all.

Technically Speaking

Settings: 5/10
-No FOV and framerate settings.

-Limited mouse sensitivity settings.

Interface: 5/10
-Some things like inviting friends to your game made in a very weird way.

Gameplay: 6/10
+A lot of content.

-Broken physics combined with the map geometry completly break the game letting you skip most of the game without any effort.

-Awful shooting system.

-Poorly made, overly stretched DLCs just to extend the game's length.

Graphics: 9/10
+Unique, timeless style.

Achievements: 8/10
·DLC achievements are quite grindy with few being extremely grindy.

Overall score: 6.6/10
Not perfect but fun loot shooter.

Technically Speaking

Settings: 2/10
-No way to mute sounds, only music.

Interface: 2/10
-The reset button is on the screen during the game all the time. It resets without any confirmation. One wrong click and you lose your whole progress.

Gameplay: 1/10
-There's basically no game.

-The progress at the beginning is ridiculously slow.

-If you sell too much at once your money overflows to 0.

-No bulk upgrading. At later stages it takes veeery long time to upgrade. You can say it turns into it's own clicker game.

Graphics: 4/10

Achievements: 1/10
-Achievements are way too grindy for close to zero content.

Overall score: 2/10
Not worth to play even if it was free.

-Your character is bobbing all the time making it unbearable.
-The cursor is not locked to the center of the screen.
-The gameplay is super bad. It's not even bad in a fun way. It's just bad and bugged.
-No explanation what to do at all.

-The resolution option doesn't change the resolution but how much of the level you see. It should be called the difficulty option.

Interface: 6/10

Gameplay: 6/10
+There are no impossible obstacles. The level is generated very smoothly.

·The gameplay is very repetitive.

-Sometimes the game doesn't let you jump when you just bumped into something.

-After 8000 meters the level generation breaks and loops the same obstacles over and over again.

-Occasionally crashes.

Graphics: 7/10

Achievements: 5/10
·One achievement makes you play for ~25 minutes in a single try.

Overall score: 5.6/10
Enjoyable endless runner to kill some time.
