I got this game at the wrong time, I think.

I bought it a few months ago, played 9 straight hours my first day, accumulated 60 hours my first week and got hyped for the DLC I heard was coming out soon...

And then the DLC dropped, and I got it immediately, and very quickly learned that this game was sold to a publisher that has no idea what the hell they're doing (gearbox) and the DLC completely broke the game. You don't even have to buy the DLC to break it- you have to downpatch now to get it fixed because the DLC was patched into the vanilla game. Here's just a handful of the notable bugs: Physics, director/game logic, EVERYTHING is now based on FPS, connecting a second controller deletes your save file, you can't play the game on xbox, you randomly die on the pause screen and during cutscenes, the new items and survivors are overwhelmingly mid, the few bosses in the game have major, game-breaking bugs that can make them unbeatable, sometimes every survivor on the select screen is replaced with Commando.

It went from a fun PVE rogue-like thirdperson shooter to a bug ridden mess that can break at any time and is generally not worth playing. Don't play this game until it's fixed.

I started playing this game waaaay back in the day, 2016 I think. This was before this game had insane amounts of DLC and was not F2P.

The base game is really quite bland. You can play it for a couple hours but you'll soon start running out of things to do, so that's where DLC comes in.

TLDR, the DLC costs $1125 in total. You can do a lot with $1125- I can fly from Montana USA to Dublin Ireland, I can buy a Valve Index, I can put a small down payment on a car, I can pay a month of rent- OR I can buy all the DLC for the hit EA game The Sims 4.

Let's break it down a little:
There are a total of 77 DLC packs broken down into 4 categories that vary in price: Kits, Stuff Packs, Game Packs, and Expansion Packs.

Let's start with Kits. There are 27 kits that cost $4.99 each. they don't add a lot to the game. They add stuff like new plants, vacuums, goth outfits, etc. 27 * $5 = $135

Next is Stuff Packs. There are 20 of these for $9.99 each. These add a little more stuff than the Kits: Paranormal things, Knitting, Laundry day, Tiny living, etc. 20 * $10 = $200

Game Packs. 12 of these bad boys for $19.99 a piece. They add larger things like Star Wars, Werewolves, the ability to go to the spa. 12 * $20 = $240

Lastly, the BIG packs: Expansion packs. These "massive" $39.99 packs add "huge" amounts of content for whole new adventures! 15 of these ones to do things like Go to a mountain to ski, have access to a couple new jobs, have seasons and weather, go to college, HAVE PETS. 15 * $40 = $540

Add one more pack for $9.99, the Digital Deluxe upgrade which adds a couple more outfits, a flaming tiki bar... and that's about it.

So! Totaling it all up
Kits: 135
Stuff: 200
Game: 240
Expansion: 540
Digital Deluxe: 10
for a grand total of $1125
And even then, according to "Add all DLC to cart" on the Steam Store, I got off by 100 dollars somewhere!

So, if you don't have $1125 to spend on the Sims 4, maybe you should find another game. You won't be getting much out of this one.

One of the cutest games I've played! It was short, but it was sweet all the way through with many heartwarming moments as Lil' Gator helps their friends and finally comes to terms with their sister growing up. I love this lil fella and I won't forget this game!

STOP! BEFORE YOU READ THIS REVIEW: IF YOU HAVE ANY INTEREST IN THE GAME, AND WANT TO PLAY IT, BUY IT AND PLAY IT, DO NOT READ ANY REVIEWS, GO IN BLIND, TRUST ME.

Otherwise, here is my review.
Do you remember those logic games you played in high school and middle school where you were given a few pieces of information and had to determine what kind of sandwich jane, ben, alex, and joe had, what day they had it on, and how much they paid for it?
Return of the Obra Dinn is that, but on steroids. You are tasked with solving a large logic puzzle involving 60 people on a pirate ship to determine how each and every one of their fates.
It took me two playthroughs to solve every fate, and that gave me a small list of pros and cons.
Pros:
-Finding out each of the fates is satisfying, some of them really make you use your brain.
-The story was captivating and kept me strapped in for all 9 hours/2 playthroughs I spent on the game
-The voice acting is great, each character is unique, the idea of the game is incredibly creative
-The games runs off a system where if you get 3 fates correct, they are confirmed and finalized for you. This is really nice as you can't just guess each fate, you actually have to put in effort for key information on each fate. If you know you have two correct, you can guess another one you might not be sure on, however.

Cons:
-There's two time wasters in the game that started urking me halfway through. After completing my first run, I realized how much of the game these things took up (honestly, about half the game):
The first one is the cloud of magic dust you are supposed to follow when finding a dead body through another memory. It is obnoxiously slow and takes unoptimized paths like loops around objects which really stretch out the cutscene. Even if you know where to go, you have to stare at the dust and keep close, otherwise it stops progressing.
The second is the actual memory system. Each time you discover a body for the first time, you enter a memory. In this memory, you get a blank screen with captions for dialogue that lasts about 15 seconds, then a 90 second window to look around at what happened. While this is useful in memories with lots of people, like The Doom chapter, it seems like you're standing still waiting for the timer to run out in chapters like The Calling, where there's only a few people to investigate. Fortunately, you can skip the dialogue and leave the memory whenever you're ready if you end up returning to gather more information.
-SECRET ACHIEVEMENT SPOILERS Three of the achievements require separate playthroughs, which goes back to the time wasting mentioned previously. On one playthrough, you have to complete the game and solve every fate. another playthrough you have to leave before you solve every fate. on the final playthrough you have to not get any fates correct, as you have to blame every death on the captain. You cannot simply go through the book and give everyone a random name and a random fate, you have to discover their body before you do that. I don't want to play the game again just for the final achievement as the cutscenes take up half the game.

TLDR: Return of the Obra Dinn is a logic game with a great story that really tests your detective skills. 8/10

I'm a college musician who actually plays in an orchestra- very good game so far!!!!! got some quirks that bring it down a bit for me though... Overall, 8/10

Pros:
-It's very accurate to conducting in real life! The cues, the conducting patterns, use of left hand... Excellent!
-Very good variety of pieces so far. Of course it's a work in progress but some highlights include Mars from Holst's The Planets, Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries, Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik... and many more.
-I love the idea of the different batons. I've personally been using the second one that gives a little more range.
-If you screw up, the orchestra starts screwing up too.
-There's an audience behind you! they sniffle, cough quietly, shush each other when the orchestra tunes (at the start of every song, nice touch). Would be funny if rarely a cellphone went off.
-If you screw up too bad and want to restart, you have to turn to the audience and click on one of the exits which is super embarrassing but a great touch!

Cons: Not many!
-I played this on a quest linked meta quest 2 and I wanted to stream the game (my first time streaming vr). after some trial and error, I got it running pretty well, but the game runs as a Meta Appilcation, not a steamvr app, which means I couldn't use any overlays to bring up twitch chat. I tried many things but that ended up corrupting some files and I had to reinstall the game.
-I'm not sure I enjoy the sphere system. At times it seems more like an accuracy contest than actually conducting.
-The changing dynamics pyramid that you trace with your hand can be a little sensitive at times
-Minor, I almost wish instead of the sections getting confused and NOT PLAYING, maybe they played timid or out of time.
-The cues need to be very accurate which is a little unrealistic for a large section of players

TLDR: THIS IS A GREAT GAME WITH SO MUCH POTENTIAL! It has some quirks, but it's in early access so in due time I believe this will be a wonderful time. might even suggest this to my college professors for practice in our conducting classes!

For a long time, this game has been my favorite with the most hours I've sunk in to any game. 1600 may not be a lot, but compared to my few hundred in other games I like, it's clear I loved this game. Emphasis on loved.

My favorite- hell, thousands of people's favorite game hasn't had a major update since October of 2017. Over 6 years ago. But, even then, in July of 2023 the player count reached it's all-time peak of 254000 players at once! It's a timeless classic! A fun run and gun "hero shooter" that games have tried to replicate but failed. Valve used their own SFM to create trailers of each of the 9 characters that MOSTLY (cough cough meet the engineer) do a great job of introducing not only their play style, but also their personality and background. There are hundreds of potential loadouts and thousands of hats you can use to create a unique look for each class. There are a multitude of objective based modes under valve's official servers, plus a plethora of community made modes and servers for even more versatility in what you want to play. Want to play basically team deathmatch? 24/7 hightower is there for you. Want to play silly maps? 2fooooooooooooooooort there. Want to NOT PLAY TF2? Check out slender fortress, dodgeball, jailbreak... the list goes on and on. I should also mention- this game has been FREE since 2011.

So why did I say I LOVED this game?
Remember when I said this game hasn't had a major update in 7 years? I'm not kidding. There have been seasonal updates every year which have added season locked maps and crates/lootboxes... but... none of the content has been made by Valve. It's all been community-made. And, good for them, but... Where's the developer support?
That question has been on everyone's mind since Jungle Inferno, the last major update. Especially since the source-code leaked. In 2020 they started showing up. While we were all locked up, playing this game again, they started coming. Bots. Snipers. Spin-botting, aimbotting, blowing holiday horns, spamming chat, spamming voice, kicking people. So we spoke out! And Valve answered! and did something! something. that's it. they did something. now, new players can't communicate unless they buy something. And... well, that's all we got, 2 years after valve said they'd work to fix it. We've now endured the bots for nearly 4 years, and they've only gotten worse. So, casual mode is out of the question. What about the community servers I mentioned? Well... you're not the only one running there. It's hard to play some of the "casual" community servers like Uncletopia, because the players with 20K hours are there too, and they'll rock your ♥♥♥♥ if you're trying to have fun. So... now what.

I... don't know. A couple days ago, valve released an update. So they're watching the game go down. Even with the MASSIVE profits they make off this game. Like, some of the items sell for tens of thousands of dollars. With this update, the item servers, which contains and allows you to use all of the different weapons and cosmetics, has been down and the game has basically been reduced to how it was in 2007. Everyone is stuck with stock loadouts, which has been a nice change of pace, but the bots have also been in full force. I haven't been able to find a game other than King of the Hill and 75% of them are full of bots. Something tells me Valve is letting TF2 die. Even though... they recently DMCA'd a popular TF2 fan project that remade the game in Source 2? Are they working on TF3? Maybe? Who knows. Everyone knows communication isn't valve's strong-suit.

In the end, I unfortunately really can't recommend this game anymore. 2019? Absolutely. Yes. 2024? No. Absolutely not. If you're a new player, you're not going to have a good time. #SaveTF2
