Re;Birth3 takes place before Megadimension from what I've played so far. There's a LOT of callbacks in Megadimension to all 3 of the Re;Birth/PS3 games and their stories seem to really have a connection, especially once you get further into Zero Dimension.

Re;Birth3 is kinda when they seemed to get "serious" about their storytelling. There's a LOT more dialog than before in their events to help flesh things out more. When you play that game I highly suggest following a guide for the True End route because it has a very satisfying conclusion and really surprised me with how well written it was.

You're in for a good time though. Megadimension really does feel like a new and refined take on the series and it's refreshing to finally be out of "remake" territory. :)

NEW NEP IS SO GOOD! I feel like with Megadimension, the gameplay finally cauught up to the series' fun characters and charm. The stories started getting really good with Re;Birth3 and this one seems to be taking cues from it too.

You should give that Shovel Knight Plague of Shadows DLC a shot. I think I've grown to like it more than the main game.
