Agreed. The limiting of games to one marketplace really annoys me. The segregation of games is unhealthy for the market, and only serves to alienate customers. Origin and uPlay were late to the scene and offered nothing to the customer, it was just a way for the companies to exhibit control over their products. I'd rather have a more open market not ran by the companies (similar to how I think TV & film should be managed).

@Bishmanrock Ultima Underworld I & II were the first games I ever bought on GOG. Also already have Syndicate Plus and Syndicate Wars on GOG, so am covered on those. Didn't know they were going to be removed, but it's EA, so I wouldn't put anything past them. Just reading about their removal now... Doesn't say why, but probably so EA can make them Origin only. I don't use Origin. It's the same as UPlay - extraneous and unworthy.

Patenting the Nemesis system was just a really arrogant move. Also, some of the online functionality of the game has since been turned off (it's minor, but it still leaves a bad taste in your mouth). I hate tacked on online functionality that requires online servers.

Not sure you're interested, but I saw Ultima Underworld 1+2, Syndicate, and Syndicate Wars are on GOG for dirt cheap and are due to get removed soon, so if you have interest in any of them worth grabbing before they vanish.

I did buy Dusk and Blade Runner on GOG last week. And am planning to buy Amid Evil too. Non-DRM is the way to go.

I don't buy Ubisoft because of UPlay, or EA for their lootboxes. Toxic publishers are the scourge of the industry.

Was going to buy Shadow of Mordor GOTY Edition in the Summer Sale, but then I realised that it was Warner Bros. Games who notoriously patented their "Nemesis" system earlier this year, which sets a terrible precedent for game development. So f**k it. I'm not buying it. Companies like WBG can eff off.
