Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a hard pass for Linux players.

There is no good technical excuse for shutting out Linux here. Easy Anti-Cheat already supports Proton when developers enable it, and games like Marvel Rivals prove that an online Marvel title can make that effort. Instead, Tokon treats Linux players as disposable before they even reach the character select screen.

A fighting game lives or dies on its community. Blocking an entire platform, especially one with a growing Steam Deck and Linux audience, is a bizarre way to shrink it. I am not asking for a separate Linux port, just the basic Proton and EAC compatibility that other multiplayer games have already implemented.

The gameplay might be great, but it is difficult to recommend a competitive online game that refuses to run on a perfectly capable platform for what looks like a solvable compatibility decision. Enable Proton/EAC support. Until then, this is a zero-support launch for Linux players.

Game barely runs on windows and he complains about linux. lol

“Linux is only 5% of steam users it’s not worth it for the developers.”

Do people not realize that’s over 6 million users. If Tokon sells 1 million copies that’s a success for them so to say 6 million users is nothing to them is baffling when FGC games don’t sell compared to other genres.

Like 99.99% players use Windows. You just can't expect game devs to support the 0.01% lol.

Judging by how bad the port is overall, I don't think it's even hostility towards Linux users (which aside from steamOS, is honestly valid) . I think the people behind this port straight up don't even know what Linux is.

To those who are coming after this. Stellanova articulates this point very well above me alongside Waifu time. Beyond the terrible optimization, the memory errors and the crashes the main problem is this game is not accessible to a good chunk of the players that would like to play it.

PSN already restricts some regions alone but then further restricting users by forcing windows and using an invasive anticheat is just bad decision making. This game is made to be more accessible to a wider audience so it makes zero sense to cut out any part of the playerbase. I haven't seen people comment about SteamOS but if compatibility with that isn't great either than that's a huge issue.

Ragebaiters aside, this game has major potential and to see a failed launch due to something that should have been considered in the beginning is a shame.

Thanks for giving fair warning to Linux players.

Sorry about the dumb ♥♥♥♥♥ who think they should be allowed to dictate what you are allowed to base your opinion on.

Peace.

Windows and Sony bootlickers in the comments genuinely make me realize this hobby is at rock bottom in 2026. People forget that Steam's official first-party hardware is Linux built.

Additionally, people don't seem to actually have basic reading comprehension. People like Soylent Green Energy, Renoir, and bluwuby completely missing the point. Did you even read the review?

Linux support isn't an effort, it's a non-issue and frankly things work out-of-the-box 90% of the time. This developer made the conscious decision to **BLOCK** Linux players. That is a DELIBERATE action.

It took more effort to block the Linux userbase than it would have taken to simply not care and allow them to play unimpeded.

Some of you need to go back to first grade reading class. Some of you genuinely make Windows users look really bad. I'm sure that Sony boot tastes great. "Leave the poor billion dollar company alone" ahh arguments.:marijacooing:

Linux user entitlement. They buy a game that clearly says Windows is required with no indication that there's Linux compatibility, and they go full Karen over their own arrogance.

Bunch of Simps for Valve a multi billion dollar corporation while complaining about Sony just shows how they lack any self-awareness, which is hilarious.

Also funny how sensitive Linux users are, though ai guess you'd need to be emotionally weak to end up in this situation in the first place.

This review's comment section is so cancer. Also, I agree with this as not only this PC port is a literal slap in the face by Sony but also it should run with Linux just fine with the Proton compatibility layer but apparently, Sony blocked that instead with the anti-cheat's toggle... :steamfacepalm:. I also wouldn't mind playing this on my Steam Deck but man...

@Renoir literally thousand of games on steam say they don't support linux yet it works completely fine (yes including some games with easy anti cheat like dbd) so there is absolutely no reason why this game shouldn't also work
