Played through the game in a single sitting - which is just shy of 2 hours. I was just as entertained as going to the cinema, so consider that before judging the game on value.

I found the story to be structured in a very interesting way - small pseudo-choices leading to a very big, difficult and subversive final choice.

I won't spoil the ending, of course, but I have to say I have seen very few games that built up to a single, potentially quite emotional and philosophical player choice in such a way or to that degree.

It's like a condensed "Life is Strange" where one and a half hours are all about world building and allowing you to understand the potential consequences of the choice to be made far before the choice is signaled in any way.
The fact that the game gripped me till the end is proof enough that it's good since I'm very picky with finishing anything these days - even 2-hour propositions.

One thing I may have liked is voice-over - after all it was one of the highlights of "Thomas Was Alone" but I guess it would have required a much bigger budget and a higher price for a game that could get its message across without it anyways.

Looking forward to other shorts by Mike Bithell & Co. They seem to be just the right format for me to enjoy.

This game surprised me to no end. I played Magicka a bit but it bored me after a few sessions, for this game I just keep going. Over 20 hours in 5 (working) days...
The game is frantic non-stop action with a high skill ceiling and varied gameplay.
What stood out to me the most (if I have to focus on one unusual thing) is the attention to detail in the animation department. E.g. how the Helldivers enter various vehicles. A lesser dev might have just made them pop in and out of the models but not Arrowhead! The Helldivers enter and exit through hatches on the models with a corresponding unique animation – which has a function from the gameplay standpoint too since the vehicles can burn up and explode and you have to take the escape time into account.
Or one could provide the example how they made all vehicles control differently on purpose – the motorcycle controls like something out of a racing game with the RT serving as the accelerator while the bastion tank destroyer controls, well, literally like a tank with each stick moving one tread (push both up to move forward, push them in opposite directions for quick turning).

Duck Game surprised me to no end. On paper it looks like yet another pixel-y, retro-ish multiplayer game with nothing special to it. However, you won't understand how fu it is unless you try it. The most random things are happening each round and all the while the skill ceiling is immense.
The quick rounds make it the perfect (longer) coffee-break experience. It is bound to become even better with Steam Workshop support etc.
Cannot recommend enough!

I backed this project on Kickstarter mainly because the pixel art looked nice and didn't have that high hopes for the game turning out any good. I assumed this would be another retro-platformer that mistakes torturing players for gameplay fun (most old games, while challenging, weren't as hard as people make them out to be).

Boy was I wrong about the game. It surprised me to no end. The difficulty curve is quite gentle and the innovative checkpoint system (you can destroy checkpoints for loot if think if you're good enough) plus infinite lives with loot-recovery a la Dark Souls make the game a blast to play.

The mechanics are like a greatest hits collection of the NES era with clear influences from Mega Man, Duck Tales, Zelda II, Super Mario Bros 3 etc. - yet the game is much more than the sum of its parts / it's a whole new enjoyable experience.

With around 6 hours on first try (depending on your skill it might take more or less time) and no chance to find everything at first (replayablity), there's plenty of bang for your buck. Also, some of the Kickstarter stretch goals like co-op or playing as a boss character haven't been implemented yet (don't get me wrong, the game is otherwise feature-complete), there will be plenty of fun to be had in the coming months too.

Highly recommended!
