This is by far the most boring, daunting and pointless game I've ever played. I don't expect every game to be packed with action, but this one is on a whole another level. Stay away unless you enjoy doing the same pointless tasks over and over again.

Don't let the mixed reviews put you off. Lords of the Fallen is definitely a great souls-like, perhaps the best non-From. I absolutely enjoyed every minute of my playthrough, especially wading through the Umbral World, which opens up new paths to explore. The boss fights could be a bit more difficult, as getting to the boss was often tougher than the boss itself, but other than it still was an amazing experience.

One final note regarding the performance issues. I was running the game on ultra/high settings at 3440x1440 @70 stable-ish FPS with 6800 XT. During my 53h playthrough I experienced maybe... 5 crashes? Sure, it could have been better, but it's not that bad I guess.

Despite "Unsupported" tag the game ran perfectly fine on Steam Deck. I usually hate QTE's in games, but this one introduces QTE warnings, which makes the experience million times better for me. Overall it's a pretty solid game, as long as you don't mind a jumpscare every now and then.

Let me start by saying that the game itself is pretty good and I do recommend playing it. It's just not good enough in it's current state to justify the €80 price tag.

Why? Mostly because technical issues. I got used that ultrawide screens are not supported by Square Enix, it's not the greatest experience ever playing with black bars, but I can live with that. But the fact that EVERY SINGLE TIME the game boots on my secondary display which is vertical? In the end I got around to fixing it by messing around with the Windows registry, but that could've been easily fixed by implementing in-game setting to change the default display. Speaking of settings, those are so barebones they don't even let you turn off dynamic resolution scaling. What's even better, they don't inform you there is dynamic resolution scaling in the first place! This is simply hilarious. You can change max fps (ranges from 30 to 120), texture resolution, shadow resolution and that's it. But hey, this is 2 years old game, it's only €80, what'd you expect?

Bear in mind this is coming from a person who has never played the original FVII, so I'm not looking through the nostalgia glasses. It's definitely fun to play, but the game feels extremely stretched. It feels like 2/3 of the game consists of side quests, which are the most generic jrpg side quests you can imgaine (kill this, deliver that). The few choices you make have no real consequences. Combat is good, I'm playing on normal difficulty and it's challenging enough to keep me engaged. The story seems good enough to keep me playing (currently I'm in chapter 9 out of 18). The one thing that surely does stand out in this game is the soundtrack.

Considering this is only part one of the full experience, and further parts are not confirmed to release on PC, I'd say grab it on sale once it hits at least 50% off. Or buy it full price if you feel like supporting greedy company which does not care about it's customers.

I'm roughly halfway through the game, and so far so good. The combat is step up from the previous games, it's fluid and huge variety of skills makes sure it doesn't get boring too quickly, even if you play using only one of the characters. Story is good enough, but nothing ground breaking. Side quests are mostly pretty generic and boring, so are the mini-games like fishing or cooking (well it's not really a mini-game I guess). Visually the game looks simply pretty, it's a pleasure to watch the cutscenes, characters and locations.
The port is good, game runs on stable 100 FPS on my RTX 2080 (I'm playing on 3440x1440 resolution, max settings). Downsides? It does not natively support ultrawide monitors (not really a surprise, it's bamco we're talking about...). This however can be easily fixed using fan-made mod/patch, like Flawless Widescreen. Overall it's a good game. If you're into jRPGS you'll get your money's worth.
