By almost entirely removing arbitrary time gates and making it universally free to respec, Incrementalia takes the formula created by idle games and refines it from pure skinner box addiction into a format that's actually fun to seriously engage with and play as a game and almost as a puzzle. Those changes are simple but far reaching, because it means you're actually spending all your time experimenting with builds, trying fun new combos, exploring new techniques for specific challenges, and solving the min/maxing bottlenecks the game presents you with rather than just waiting around for your mana to grow so your crystals grow so your gems grow or whatever like in most idle games.

It also has a great UI and visual experience, almost everything is stylishly displayed on one screen so you can see the effects of all your choices almost immediately, which again lets you focus on actually experimenting with builds rather than menu hunting. It's extremely refreshing compared to the sub-tab mess that many incremental games bloat into

Honestly one of my favorite incremental games I've ever played and I think a lot of games in the genre could learn a lot from this one
