I like to play video games!
Hello! :shpickle:

I'm not really one to talk much about myself, but know that I am an easy-going, down-to-Earth kind of guy. I am a gaming enthusiast at heart, having practically been born with a controller in my hand. I also enjoy animation, animals, and meat-lovers pizza. One of the most important things to understand about me is that I never seek to cause conflict in any area(s) of my life. Be nice to me and I'll be nice to you, that kind of thing.

Let me know if any of these aspects about myself also appeal to you, and I'm sure you and I will get along just fine.

Until then enjoy your visit to my profile, and have a great day. :shpickle:

My original opinion on Undertale mostly still applies, althought I would like to note that the game does have a couple flaws that are entirely subjective, personally speaking.

The combat system; while unique, does take some practice to ultimately get the hang of. This is especially the case toward some of the more difficult encounters from the midpoint on. If you've never played a "bullet hell" style game as they are sometimes referred to, then you will definitely get a taste here.

Morality systems in games can be a tricky thing to do right, and some might find Undertale's to be a bit ambitious for what the game is trying to do. I believe this was intended, as to my knowledge there hasn't really been a game that has attempted to persuade its players to think about their actions as a participant as well as a bystander. The best advice I can give is just make your choices as you yourself would personally make them were you in the protagonists position in actuality, at least for your first playthrough.

Other than noted above, there is very little I can say I found negative about Undertale. It's charming, creative, and does its darndest to break some kind of mold that I can't even properly describe what through words. I still recommend Undertale wholeheartedly, truthfully.

As with anything popular however, be cautious of Undertale's rabid fanbase though. Yeesh.

Original Review Below

For those looking for a straight-shot review, Undertale is one of the best gaming experiences I have ever been humbled to personally witness.

10/10 - A True Masterpiece.

For a bit more detail on how I feel about the game, please read on.

Preface: the following review is from the perspective of an individual that has completed the majority of what the game has to offer (IE - the Neutral, True Pacifist, and Genocide endings).

It is from humble beginnings that I first heard about Undertale. I watched YouTuber "Markiplier" play a little bit of the game before I understood that this is a game that would be best played for myself first. I picked the game up (plus soundtrack, which you should also consider purchasing as it is one of the many high points the game offers) on whim and decided to give it a go, not really knowing what to expect nor what I was getting myself into.

Hoo boy, do I wholeheartedly recommend this game.

Undertale is akin to a traditional RPG from ye olden days of gaming. You travel through the game's overworld, meeting interesting, varied, and loveable characters, and depending on player choice, decide that world's ultimate fate. The story is where this game really shines, drawing you in from the moment the game is booted all the way until the final closing scene. You won't get any spoilers from me, but know that the story is very approachable as well as enjoyable. As mentioned, you the player get to decide how to approach the game's choices: do you kill everyone you meet to "win" the game or do you succeed through other means?

Undertale allows this, and I daresay it encourages you to think differently about even the simplist decisions made throughout the course of its plot.

You will smile with Undertale, you will laugh with Undertale, and you most definitely will cry with Undertale.

I'll be honest with you guys, I have never played a game that has made me think and feel about emotions the way that Undertale did. I am a very emotionally reserved person, and Undertale made me feel feelings that I had previously long since forgotten about. Hopefully, the game will touch you as it has touched me. A game, no, an experience like Undertale only comes around once in a great while, and let's just say there is a reason that this game has been so well received as one of the best things to come out of the gaming scene in 2015. It is just that good.

So please, if you enjoy gaming either as a simple passtime or something much more do yourself a favor and experience Undertale for what it is: an engaging and creative work of interactive art. I can't 100% guarantee you will feel the same way about the game as I do, but you owe it to yourself as a gaming enthusiast to at least give it a shot.

Jump right into the Underground and remember to stay determined, my friend.
