In topic Escapists map editor problems
I'll answer you when I am ready, I don't need to be spammed about it. The error is when my editor cannot find the texture files for the map you are attempting to load/create. You are missing game files, effectively, or they are in the wrong spot.

Ah, ok. This is my editor then. Could you please try https://ci.jselby.net/job/Escapists%20Map%20Editor/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/target/EscapistsEditor.jar and see what error that prints out?

What is the actual error report? You might want to post a copy on Pastebin.

You mean my editor? It can also open up cmaps... Just select all files in the file selection window.
Yeah, the game most certainly has DRM at multiple levels.

In topic Prison and unofficial editor scale?
That is some kind of weird bug right there. I''m working on a new version of my unofficial editor that might fix this, but else I would guess that your file is corrupted.

Sorry for the trouble.

I bet you 99.9% of all modders have been on an university where they're taught about programming and even then; it's hard to do it. I'll give you a simple example of how HARD things can get

This is getting offtopic, but:
I'm gonna have to disagree with that one, 9-14 is the perfect age to start to learn to program. I learnt Perl when I was 7-8 (those ASCII art animations were fun), and its the best way to get kids interested in STEM. I'm in college, but I haven't taken up programming or anything (just generic IT), and I know how to "mod".

I was mostly talking about the coding mods :P
The game itself uses Clickteam Fusion 2.5 (same engine as FNAF), and has a majority of its internal assets encrypted. I've been working on a modding API however (as a side effect of my Android port), but thats gonna take some time.

Thats weird - SteamCMD was able to download a complete distribution of the Linux version successfully for me (even when I'm on Windows). That might be something to try.

As for access to the maps using said template, they could possibly be unable to be played unless the Walking Dead edition is present as well. I hope I speak for many of the players out there when I saw, we would love to be able to make our own zombie Escapist maps. Plus, should multiplayer ever come to the game, the zombie mode would be able to be quite the fun attraction.

TE:TWD was released using the Unity engine, so I doubt there will be a "template" of any sort. (and I also doubt they care about this game version anymore...)

If this is my unofficial editor you are talking about, then I will need an escapistseditor.log (in the same directory) at pastebin, or if that doesn't exist, pastebin the contents of running it via the terminal (java -jar filename.jar).

In topic Can you change the textures on the tiles?
It most certainly is possible to edit tilesets, but I failed due to the .gif and alpha transparency in GIMP. The image files are encrypted (shameless plug: my unofficial editor can decrypt them via the commandline)

I assume you are running OS X or Linux as your primary OS. What kind of specs are there up there?
Did you enable 2D/3D acceleration in Virtualbox? I doubt that this game would work in it.
