Update:

As I've gotten further into the game, the design of the in-game upgrade system is pushing me to higher difficulties to get the right McGuffins to upgrade things. The higher difficulties are not fun, and just spam more and more heavy armor enemies at you. The only weapon in the game capable of reliably dealing with heavy armor was just nerfed, and the devs are trolling about it on fora.

Oh well, looks like it's time to uninstall.

This is a cross between Left 4 Dead, Deep Rock Galactic, and Starship Troopers (film version). You get shot out of a space cannon to spread Freedom and Democracy by shooting a bunch of bugs of various sizes and shapes. You have limited ammo and die quickly(including from friendly fire), but you can respawn (up to a limit). Missions seem varied, but mostly boil down to "go to place and shoot bugs while maybe doing another minor task". That's fine, it's pretty chaotic and anything more involved would get out of hand quickly.

There's some controversy about the anti-cheat, but it works on Linux with Proton Experimental without issue for me. There's of course an MBA required battle pass equivalent, but it seems reasonable and the game hasn't shoved it in my face so far.

I don't really like the controls and I can't put my finger on exactly why. They feel kind of floaty.

Overall I really like it so far. The game looks pretty good and performs reasonably well on my system (7900X3D / 7900XT) on Ubuntu 23.10.

Blatant rip off of not just Pokemon, but Ark, Breath of the Wild, even some Elden Ring in there. Unhinged Pokedeck descriptions, Chipmunks with guns, and you can make your Pokemon work in a sweat shop and butcher them for food.

I don't even like survival games, but this is too hilarious not to enjoy.

So far it's a pretty fun combination of when Battlefield was good (tons of environmental destruction) and Counter-Strike, but with a higher TTK which I enjoy. I'm bad, of course, but it's enjoyable. Devs enabled Linux support, which is very based of them.

The end is never the end.

One of the most influential games and engines of all time. Bethesda seems to actually care about preservation, too, since they updated this to work on modern systems. Plays perfectly in Linux.

I am fully charged!

The expansion contains both a better storyline and a better map than the base game. It's smaller, more focused, with far less filler. I'm not a fan of movie actors in games, but Elba plays his role very well. Soundtrack is on point. Runs perfectly on Linux.

Real Yakuza use a Steam Deck.

Maybe someday we'll get another one.
