got stuck like two times and had to check a walkthrough, but still a wonderful little gem of a game. i also accidentally shot the huge face out of fear and never got the dialogue :(

i'm at the final stretch of the game, i believe. i couldn't understand the first negative review i read in the comments of the "One Dreamer out now" announcement (comment #9) after playing for a good 30 minutes or something.

now, i can imagine how some parts of the game (voice acting, gameplay) aren't for everybody. i admit, it took a little (real little) time to acclimatize to the in-game environment, but once you let the world suck you in, you're really in.

the voice acting and dialogue start to "make sense" after a while (weird thing to say; but they did for me) and sound really good and right for the moods of the main characters and most of the "NPCs" (you could also call them players). for a tiny amount of "NPCs" you can actually hear the quality difference, but being "in the world" i like to imagine it was an artistic choice which fits right in if you think about it.

all in all, after an hour i thought the game would be over. but it kept on going and throwing stuff into my eyes and robbing them of fluids. i love it.

ps: thanks again for the lanyard <3 so excited for the game's release & congrats!

//e: most issues got fixed or fixed themselves, not sure really.

it's a great game that, sadly, crashes on:
- match start
- trying to reconnect to a match
- early-match
- mid-match
- late-match
- in the menu
- when changing settings
- navigating the menu

unplayable in its current state.

This short review is purely based on the stock game, without any mods, because the developers certainly can't take any credit for the creative minds that keep this game alive for them.

- Graphics: 2/10 (looks like a game from 2010. Half-Life 2 looks better)
- Physics: 1/10 (non-existent. neither players, vehicles or environments come close to real-world physics compared to other games)
- AI: 2/10 (you can't call cars on rails "AI". path-finding for automatic workers works "good enough" on simple fields without any obstacles 50 meters away from them)
- Gameplay: 5/10 (base game gameplay is okay to dip your toes into the genre, but gets boring VERY quickly without mods)
- Mechanics: 5/10 (can't really tell if they're realistic, but most things in the game do things)
- DLCs: 3/10 (biggest joke. just a cash-grab based on putting companies into the game... which modders already do. only really useful for people who don't know what mods are and have money or like a particular brand)
- Updates: 1/10 (don't expect anything apart from DLCs and the "nExT-gEn fArMiNg siMuLaToR" which doesn't advance in anything spectacular every couple years)
- UI: 2/10 (the UI is a horrible mess. you can tell it's programmer art like the rest of the game)
- Modding Support: 3/10 (controversial, but the official documentation on modding is trash, because at their core they don't want people to mod their games, but they "accept" it as it's the only thing that keeps people playing until they release the next game... even with a half-decent programming background you'll get lost and left with several questions. good luck, you'll need it)

I gave the game a chance, and it couldn't hold up to my expectations in 2020.

- Overall: 3/10

For me, Grimm's Hollow easily "beats" Undertale in terms of story, gameplay and impact.

why do you have a tool that breaks after a while if it doesn't cost anything to craft it?

i didn't like this game in the short playtime, but: wandering around the globe, i've seen huge bases with so much effort put into it that i think there must be something to this.

i'm coming from minecraft, but this game feels too childish in a lot of ways. the controls for movement don't feel good. i love the inventory management. you can put multiple blocks/items in both hands, then you can scroll through them - on both sides. i believe you have up to 16 slots for your hands? i don't know, but it feels good.

now, the big part i didn't like: the tutorial is okay and all, but at a certain point it asks me to buy something in order to progress and i wasn't really sure why or what it is, so i quit after i couldn't figure it out.

oh boy, i'm tired. just play it yourself.

The art style and story telling is great, albeit the short playtime. Really immersive.
