It's hotline miami in 3d, from the people who made genital jousting. It's foot themed. You can kick EVERYTHING. Just buy it, pervert.

It’s not a metroidvania at first, but the exploration is super rewarding when it is, as it really scratches that ‘new revisit’ itch with the time jump mechanics, and the way that kind of loops around and expands as you complete the open ended portion is really amazing. The writing is unbelievably brilliant and if you take time to talk to the shop keeper, and KEEP CHECKING THE WARDROBE you get some really incredible, thoughtful parables. Honestly, the writing is what makes this game a 10/10. Everything else is amazing, but the writing carries.

I watched a little bit of a streamer play it, thought the platforming looked tight, so that could make it fun. But that's nowhere near enough - it does have controller support and works well, but so, so much of it is long stretches of boring, simple platforming before you get to a small, short segment of somewhat difficult/janky platforming meant to risk sending you down. On top of that you have bizarre Chat-GPT style narration read by literally the nails-on-a-chalkboard tiktok voice, and it's not entertaining absurd nonsense, it's just garbage. On top of that, a HUGE amount of time is spent falling and climbing back up, and while that is par for the course for this style of game, so much feels like filler. Even if you take the checkpoint elevator back to the midpoint, it's a 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minute ride. Why not just teleport me?

It's sad, because, much like the foddy quote likely inspiring the whole thing, it's a "vast assemblage of found objects" but not with any useful or entertaining structure, but I feel like if someone with even a mediocum of love for the art of games took a crack at making a platformer built on climbing a vast assemblage of stock assets as a training exercise to get to know unity, you'd have a solid shot at doing a better job - and even if you used AI to write the narration in the style of foddy, you could curate and edit it into something at least comedic, and paying homage to the concepts in Getting Over it. As it stands though, it's just a cheap "content" game. If it were fun, I'd be a lot happier with it, but I sure wouldn't recommend a purchase.

Oh, and it's smeared with stupid NFTs. I have no idea why. But it's very, very stupid.

This is literally what I wish stardew valley was. I don't need a bunch of chatty gals to marry, give me an infinite mine and great combat and I'm good for a looooooong time.

They managed to do a top-down Starbound type concept brilliantly. It's a wonderful game and if you like classic zelda and terraria or starbound, this is a must-play.

Wonderful game, but not quite worth 15. I'd buy it on sale - easily completed in 2 hours or less.

I have no idea why twisted levels is time limited.

I've seen a lot of folks say it's Risk of Rain 2 with a triple A, and I love ROR2 but this is excellent. It's got strong metroid vibes and feels extremely good - very fast and satisfying movement. It looks great and environmental art and lore are spectacularly well done.

Since my original negative-ish review, they've added several classes and just a TON of additional content. It has really improved in replayability. I still think it needs several more acts/areas before it could be considered 1.0 but as it stands now there is a TON of fun to be had here.

My initial interpretation was "so we're doing bad doomy stuff with some HR Giger and alien mixed in?" but after suffering through the horrible mess that was the callisto protocol, I wanted something better and was pleasantly surprised at how great this game was - Although it has a lot of hammy looking gore and gothic architecture in the trailers and images as well as focusing on action, I don't think that did the game justice at all. Combat is not infrequent but by no means is it the focus of the game - Surreal body horror aesthetics, environmental puzzles and somehow, narrative end up being the focus and it does an amazing job at all of these things.

Some stuff you that might be nice to know:
If you accidentally skip the first gun, you'll be fine. At no point will the game explain anything - it's really all up to you to determine what happened and what the themes or purpose was beyond surreal horror on an alien planet in some kind of derelict biopunk factory

I enjoyed it a LOT more than I was expecting and found it to be a really solid horror game. No one really does body horror like this any more, which made it feel all the more special, and I'm glad I picked it up. If you are also sore that callisto protocol absolutely caked it's pants and missed horror entirely, maybe this is what you are looking for.
