Early Access Review
Hades 2 is just as incredible as the first, if not better, and it was released in early access. the art retains the same lush, hand-painted environments and dynamic character designs, but added just enough to make it more intricate and involved. The soundtrack is still cool as ♥♥♥♥ and matches the games change of pace. ive played for 10+ hours already and have yet to have a duplicated run. supergiant again proves that initially rich and dense games can be released in early access with the prospect of later additions, rather than using it as a tag for a bare-bones money grab and go like so many other ♥♥♥♥♥♥ studios. and also they mad e the girlks hottER/!!

after getting back into the game from leaving it for a while, its safe to say age of wonders 4 is an absolute gem in the realm of 4X strategy. when you start your first game you’re presented with a wealth of strategic choices, from city management to diplomatic negotiations, each decision carrying significant weight in the grand tapestry of the game. unlike civ (which i do love), the depth of the building and expanding of your empire provides a sense of purpose and narrative.

in addition, the turn-based tactical combat really shines in this game. the intricacies of army composition, terrain utilization, and spell casting adds layers of strategic depth to every battle (albeit i suck at this part). the diversity of races, each with its unique units and abilities, and a very forgiving trait system, adds a fresh dynamic to the strategic category. the powerful leaders and the ability to customize your sovereign injects a personalized touch into the game-play, allowing you to tailor your experience to your preferred play-style. if you're a fan of rich world building and intricate combat/ strategy games, age of wonders 4 is an absolute must-play.

this is an incredible sequel to the first. some of the most cohesive co-op i have experienced in a good while. very little bugs/ issues with the game (with the exception of some rare performance spikes). the range of enemy types, weapons, mods that change weapon play-style, bosses, stages, etc, is some of the best ive seen. even the cut-scenes, which were a little lacking in the first, have been improved (still some cringe). on top of all of this, the asking price is an humble $10 under most AAA titles that are far worse. very solid game for you and your pals.

i was so excited for this game, but it falls short far beyond what could be anticipated. despite the reputation for chaotic gunplay and profane humor, borderlands 3 struggles to bring anything substantial to the table, leaving you with a sense of deja-vu and unmet expectations.

the humor, a hallmark of the borderlands series, continuously crosses the line from irreverent to grating. the incessant barrage of ‘poop’ jokes and pop culture references feels forced, out of touch and disgustingly dated. the attempt to maintain the quirky tone of its previous games results in a strained and predictable comedy that more often than not leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

the narrative too, lacks the compelling elements that made the other games engaging. the plot meanders through a series of forgettable set pieces and one-dimensional characters, failing to provide a compelling reason for you to invest in the unfolding events. the antagonists (oh god the antagonists), touted as charismatic/ relatable new age villains, come across as irritating, excessive and tiresome adults that linger around high schools too long and can’t part with the lingo.

while the game boasts a vast arsenal of weapons, the sheer quantity doesn't compensate for the lack of diversity in gameplay. the gunplay fails to deliver. the lack of meaningful variation in combat scenarios and enemy behavior is monotonous, turning what should be chaotic and exhilarating firefights into tedious slogs.

the missteps in borderlands 3 make it a forgettable entry in a genre that demands innovation and excitement. while it may appeal to die-hard fans of the franchise, newcomers and those seeking a fresh take on the series should avoid this game entirely.

this game has the best of both slay the spire and monster train. I loved playing those yet the co-op feature of this one gives it great amounts of replayability and makes it ten times as fun. super worth the price, would love the idea of expansions for this and just more games with the same rougelike, co-op features.

Dying Light 2 is one of the worst open world games I have played this year. Constant mind numbing dialogue pretending to be story. The free roam itself is actually fun, but anything involving the story is just fetch quests for dialogue. You cannot and do not like or relate to almost any of the characters. They are incredibly surface level and while yes, you can skip most of the conversations, it doesn't really help when you need to talk to the same 3 people 60 times. Playing Co-Op is a saving grace, but not by much. Large amounts of bugs and de-sync issues leave animations stuttering, freezing, and zombies running at mach speed to catch up with other players. The enemies vary, but not by much (3 different colors of varying sized zombies) and the amount of animations for take-downs/ executes and various other things is abysmally low. The same is true for the weapons and human enemies as well. You can pick up an item that, while it says you've never had before, looks incredibly similar to everything else (and doesn't act different in any way). It feels like they rushed to have as many weapons as possible by sacrificing individuality. You'll find yourself doing the same thing over and over again in this game. I wholeheartedly recommend you steer clear of this unless its on sale or heavily patched.

Absolutely incredible game. I have been unable to get my hands on a PS5 since they were released and this coming to PC was a godsend. One of the best single player games I've played in a while and an amazing follow up/ spin off of the older God of War series. Very little dull moments and the partial linearity really shines in a game like this. Seriously recommended to anyone that missed the original release and are in the same boat as me.

I'm not sure why Icarus is receiving so many negative reviews, with a moderately up to date computer you should have no issues running the game. Not to mention the very few, and I mean very few, items that aren't released yet have no impact on actual game-play. Any issues the game may have now (which I can't say are many) is nothing a patch or two couldn't fix. I've been playing single-player and it's been great so far. I love the progression of age, upgrades and skills feel like they matter, leveling is not the most generous, but you get there in due time. The building is very fun as well and kind of reminds me of Rust, where upgrading your base to have new tech feels worth the grind. All around this game is well worth the $30 and I hope the devs aren't disheartened by this bombardment of undeserved criticisms.
