I liked it. There have been complaints about reskinned enemies but the 2 new enemy types - Briggs and Wyverns - seem pretty good. Campaign maybe was a tad bit short but overall I'd say it was on par with Shadowkeep - maybe even better in terms of storytelling (main campaign that is). Some lost sectors have interesting lore, Europa is a good environment and stasis adds a nice diversity. Overall I'd say 7-8/10?

While the concept of the game is interesting I think it's not executed very well. Often times the game gets into a state where you can't collect any more information and you need to provide the surveillance system with data that you found. But there would often be two conflicting datasets, usually diametrically opposite, available for upload but you have no real way of determining which one is true/false. So you end up just taking the best guess and then the game starts playing this dramatic music because it's exactly at that point that somebody has to suddenly make a phone call or send an email with some sort of a revelation. Needless to say most of the time it doesn't land for me. My reaction to these situations would mostly be: "Oh, ok. I guess that's what happened.". The game goes out of its way to put you in a dead-end situation that could go either way and then it tries to make a tense situation out of it. It doesn't really work for me and I felt like the writing wasn't very strong in general. Especially when it comes to one character that communicates directly with you and beats you over the head with expository information and game tips in a way that attempts to be subtle but isn't really.

Destiny 2 is pretty good game but it has one major problem - it always gives you less information than you want. I am honesty very very surprised at how bad some of the interface/information systems in the game are. For a new player this is incredibly infuriating. The game loves using its own terminology but it's not very keen on telling you what means what. Let me give you some examples:
  • Early on you might get a bounty ( an objective to complete for a reward) that requires you to "Land 30 precision final blows against [Vex/Hive/Cabal...] in [strikes/crucible/gamble..]." - It's going to take you quite a while to figure out what the game actually wants you to do as none of these terms are explained on the bounty itself. This is a recurring problem that could easily be solved by rephrasing the bounty - "Get 30 kills with critical hits. Game mode: [strike/gamble/crucible]. Enemy faction: [Vex/Hive]" - or at least do something to even hint at what you have to do: this word refers to a game mode, this one refers to a faction, this refers to the type of damage your gun uses and it's identified by this icon. This is a constant problem and I feel like it would so easily solvable with some interface and wording adjustments.
  • Unless I missed something there is no codex/journal/bestiary in the game - or it's very well hidden in the menus. It's like in a survival game except in those the fun is trying out different combinations of items/actions to figure out what they do. Here you have to Google in order to figure out what the game wants you to do. After 20 hours of game time I'm still not sure how many actual factions are there in the game and how to identify each one by looks and name. e.g. The game wants me to kill 20 Cabal but I don't know what a Cabal is.
  • Everything is hover only so you never really get a good overview of your inventory or quests and bounties - you have to hover and hover all the time.
  • The quests often miss crucial information - such as where they take place. Furthermore there is no way to group / sort quests and bounties by the planet/destination where they have to be completed - so hover and hope it's listed on the quest card.
  • On the destinations map - where planets and major locations are listed - are icons next to each location. I still don't know what most of them mean and you won't find out by hovering over them. For some reason the map also contains game modes but I don't really understand how they are picked or chosen. E.g there is a strikes playlist there but it's not even all the strikes in the game - it seems like it's just a special collection - maybe the ones that don't belong to any one specific planet?
  • Confusing quest cards - I got several quests that repeat this pattern: Name: "QuestX", Description: "Complete QuestX", Objectives: "[] QuestX completed" . Basically you get a quest to complete another quest but the quest doesn't even say where to look for the other quest and this quest is called the same as the child quest to make it more confusing.
  • Just yesterday I had to google what "Lost sectors" are because I had a bounty to complete them but the game never told me what a lost sector is or how to access it.

Gameplay wise it's pretty good when it comes to shooting. The problem is that as a new player I mostly played solo and the game often isn't very challenging at all. A lot of enemies are just fodder and the only way the game increases in difficulty is by throwing more enemies and enemies with higher health pool at you.

Lastly, don't expect a good storyline - at least in the F2P part. It's mostly very shallow and doesn't go into very much detail on any of the world building.

Overall 7/10. The gameplay holds it up.

Really well designed in terms of engaging gameplay mechanics. Everything is well thought out - there is a viable strategy for using every weapon type while also having ways to defend against it. Good balance of difficulty and RNG. Quite a bit of replay value.

This game is fantastic. I have nothing to add that hasn't been said already. The presentation, enviroments, gameplay, soundtrack - everything is as good as anyone could ever wish for. Let me put it in another terms - if this game were meth Walter White would probably go out of business.

I only played for a bit so far but I was quite surprised at the ammount of polish when it comes to the artstyle, character models etc. The voice acting is not always great - there is this annoying Russian woman in the game and the accent is pretty bad - but overall the vo is decent. As a first impression I have to say I am quite pleasantly surprised so far and probably could recommend the title at first glance. This game does however include microtransactions but it seems like atm they don't impact the balance of the game - or at least I haven't seen anyone claim it does. It also seems like with an extra $20 for the commander edition you get all of the upgrades and characters anyway.

As far as gameplay goes - this is a squad based, top-down objective centered arena game. I can see the comparisons between mobas but this one is not exactly that. You often try to capture points to gain vision, secure cores to score points and wipe hives of alien bugs to get the said cores. The similarity to a moba really seems to be only in the way it controls and the angle of the camera. Seems fun so far, will update in the future.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the customization of heroes seems to be quite deep compared to a moba, going as far as being able to change each QWER abilitty.
