In topic Discord Voice Problems
Planetside 2 is extremely demanding on your CPU compared to other games. This is simply because of the number of players involved.

If your CPU is under max load it will be struggling to run Discord. What CPU do you have?

The other obvious problem I can think of is Windows 10 Game Mode. You want to go into Settings >> Gaming and Turn off Game Mode. This will be prioritizing CPU resources to games at the expense of Discord and other application you have running.

Overheating has nothing to do with Foxhole.

As others have said;
  • Clean your PC
  • Check your cooling
  • Disable your overclock and/or lower your voltages

I am using an overclocked AMD R9 380 and the highest temp I've seen is 74c. The fans aren't even on full speed.

My TV is running Tizen OS. Which I believe is the same as the 2016-2017 models. I hoped my TV would be getting the Steam Link app too.

Hmm, I don't see anything. Is there a list of supported TV's? I have the Samsung UE40JU6400KXXU.

Gate Shield Diffuser (GSD) is available to some vehicles and allows them to pass through vehicle shields.

The Sunderer Stealth Cloak Module is available at the end of the Vehicle Stealth cert line.

Once you unlock mines for the Engineer. Its worth getting the Mine Carrier upgrade for the Suit slot. You can then place extra mines.

Got my SteamLink yesterday. This is something I'd like to see myself.

In topic Need opinions on Sunderer cosmetics!
Not tried the cosmetics added within the last 6-9 months. Tried most of the ones before that time.

My setup currently...

Horn - NS-A. Great for honking at other players to get out of the way.
Other - Sunderer Logistics Support kit. I like this but sometimes the rear gunner complains as the crane can clip into your view down the turret and its quite distracting.
Tire - Sunderer Toe Cutter Tire Spikes. These are great. Worth playing around with the Camo's as they take on the colour of some patterns. The Loyal Solider camo makes a very distinct purple look.
Lighting - Orange Chassis Lights. Like these a lot. There is a bug with a particular graphics settings that makes them flicker (think its Overall Quality Medium and Lighting Quality High. So long as you don't set both these graphic settings its fine)
Trim - Auraxium Lumifiber Trim. Not a fan of this since it was changed. Will probably go back to the normal Lumifiber Trim.
Exterior - Sunderer Foxhound Grill. This looks great. However the camo coverage often bugs out. Shame but I would avoid it for now.
Ornament - VS Holo Hood Ornament. Nice and simple. I like it for showing you were the middle of the vehicle is when squeezing inside a tight space and you have to go to 1st person view.
Decal - Outfit Vehicle Decal.
Camo - Black Camo. Just unlocked this. Looks amazing at night. Before that the Loyal Soldier Camo was my favourite.

Worth heading to VR. You can test the cosmetic combinations there for yourself before you buy.

The performance improvement would be significant but doesn't justify the cost. Wait for the next round of CPU's from AMD/ Intel, due towards the end of the year and reassess.

Worth noting the devs are still improving performance overtime. The Medic Shield Recharging Field is being optimized to boost FPS. Currently its an FPS killer in big infantry battles.
The Science-Sundy tactic has been around awhile now. Its not considered an exploit but the developers don't encourage it and they are actively blocking paths into bases for vehicles. Head to Hvar on Indar and you'll see more pillars now block off the lower level for example.

In topic Building Update
Personally I feel this is the best update Planetside 2 has ever had. Completely shakes up the game. Combat is pushed into remote areas of the map you never had any reason to visit. Vehicle combat is back in a big way as a large armoured force is required to take out a player base. Support roles are now much more varied with the introduction of construction and the maintenance of player bases keeping them topped up with Cortium using the ANT.

All servers have seen a healthy population boost. Worth the download to check out the changes yourself.

In topic How useless if Front armor on Maggie?
I go with Stealth. The Magrider isn't built for frontline combat. You are better avoiding detection and exposing the flanks.

In topic Why so much lag after update?
Running cables is more hassle but cheaper overall and better for gaming/ streaming video.

You'll have an ethernet port free on your motherboard and router. Just get yourself a Cat 5E/ 6 cable and link your computer and router.

Close Steam, reopen by right-clicking the Steam shortcut and selecting Run as administrator. Then relaunch Planetside 2.

The Planetside 2 launcher probably needs to install the Prerequisites but doesn't have permission.

In topic New update/patch,preformace issues!
My old computer is a very similar spec. AMD Phenom II X4 3Ghz/ 4GB of memory/ AMD HD7770 OC 1GB. It gets around 40fps average and bottoms out around 25fps.
Both yours and my old machine are borderline playable. What hurts the most is only having 4GB of memory. Daybreak recommend 6GB+ :

If your fps is dipping to 8 while flying. I'm guessing you have an HDD and not an SSD? An SSD is important to Planetside 2. Unlike most games it loads/unloads game assets in the background as you play. Simply no other way of having such huge maps.

Still, after all these years... for real?
What I'm suggesting is my personal preferred method for dealing with ground attack aircraft. I play as a Medic + Sunderer driver for probably 90% of my playtime. I can deploy the Sunderer, switch to Heavy Assault, fire my NS R3 Swarm, then switch back to Medic.

If a VS Scythe is using a PPA to attack infantry and is engaged in air-2-air combat. They can't change their loadout at the Sunderer, they are dead.

This game isn't 1 vs 1. Its Many Vs Many Vs Many. You will always be the Rock to somebody's Scissors, likewise somebodys will always be the Paper to your Rock.
You can lock on to air vehicles while they are landed. Quite often you will kill the pilot with splash damage from the missiles while they are repairing on the ground >:)

There is a glitch in VR with lock-ons. You have to jump off the platform to get a lock for some reason. And yes, targets don't move in VR - yet!
  • Make sure you travel between bases in a vehicle. Infantry in the open are easy targets.
  • Find a bigger fight. Aircraft are only powerful in smaller fights under 24 vs 24. Anything more and its to risky to fly low level ground attack runs.
  • Buy the NS R3 Swarm.

People will have a different opinion on this. However I recommend new players buy this right away. Unlike the Burster MAX, Skyguard Lightning Walker etc. This won't cost you resources to use, allowing you to change class to the Heavy Assault, deal with the air-threat, then go back to whatever you were doing.
The 3-shot magazine allows you to fire 3 lock-on missiles at once and this will cause aircraft to flee. Even if they use flares you can reload and fire another 3.
The other thing I like about the Swarm is it actually gets you kills too. Those 3 missiles will hunt their target down over a long distance. The best you can do with the other anti-air weapons is act as a deterrent to frighten them off - unless you dump large amounts of certs into getting the various unlocks for them.

Video review:

Remember to head to virtual reality to try it before you buy! :)

In topic Devs should update STEAM FILES
Still don't understand why Steam doesn't just host the launcher. Then people can download the game files from Daybreaks servers when they run the launcher from Steam.

Seems so simple... must be some good reason its not this way already.

In topic Question about the ANT
Its scattered around the maps. Easiest way to find it is to get the Mining Radar unlock for the ANT. Then it shows up when you are nearby some Cortium nodes :)
