Game is more of an engine demo than it is an actual game. It is a glorified boss rush, the content between bosses is trivial and can be skipped with ease and you wont feel any weaker. The upgrade system is basic and its impact is not felt, gear has set bonuses but you never feel stronger or weaker with or without them. Its just an artificial number to give you a roadblock on certain bosses/area's (do you have this weapon? then tick the box and kill the next boss). The game appears and wears a disguise giving the impression of it being more open world and exploratory than it actually is; paths, roads and areas are filled with invisible walls and stops to prevent you from finding secrets or fun side content. Combat itself feels clunky and unrewarding. The skill tree itself is basically useless, the best way to fight any boss or enemy is just to tap the light attacks and dodge, the heavy attack is useless and one of the worst to exist and you get punished for using it with no reward to balance it out (the damage it does it less than if you just done a light combo chain). The area's you go through are very boring and uninspired, you can replace any zone with another in the game, mix and match and it wont change the pacing or outcomes, there is no coherency. The only positive points I have would be the graphics, music and audio design, and the story (which is timeless).

Genuinely amazing game. People will discount this as some Bloodborne type souls clone. Which is very unfair to it, this game does its own thing and does it exceptionally well.
In some cases its better than Bloodborne, taking what was there and improving on it in almost every way.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see features this game has be implemented into future Souls games or souls clones.

Music is amazing, characters and NPC's are full of life and tell an amazing story for each one with their own personality that shines, the story itself is not obscure like Souls style but has depth with the world slowly revealing itself and leading hopes into future games in the world.

My biggest problem is the boss fights, they are amazing and fun and challenging in a fair way, BUT way too many are multi phased. It felt like every other boss had another phase behind the first health bar or midway through a health bar. This lessens the impact of a boss phasing into something else.

My GOTY for 2023

Possibly one of the worst fighting games to ever be created, dogwater game that tarnishes the One piece brand name. People only saying its good because they are pilled into liking anything OP

This game does the original justice, whilst also trying new things, and changing things around to not be a stale remaster of the original. Any changes work within the new game but not within the old and help to improve. Characters this time around have actual depth and character behind them and are not just stereotypical blank slates who let off a quip every now and again

Great game hidden under some dirt which spoils it slightly, the pick up from ground is atrocious, ping system is broken as ♥♥♥♥ and just doesnt work half the time, guns and equipment and map design all encourage camping with little to no way to stop it. Everything else is really fun and great.

Servers are in a terrible state, not that this is breaking news for anyone. When you can actually play the game its really fun, very in depth and involved crafting/battle systems, if the servers were not such a ♥♥♥♥ show this would be an easy 8/10 game

Pretty god addition to the MH franchise, not as good as Shrek 2 on DVD addition to the Shrek franchise but its up there
