This was my first time playing any Metal Gear game, and also my first experience with a Kojima title. Before this, I couldn’t really understand all the appreciation around Kojima and his games. But after finishing this, I can’t describe how much I loved the game and his approach to game-making.

He was talking about topics 20 years ago that even today only a few games or movies touch on. It’s not just a game, but also an idea and a philosophy about anti-war, purpose in life, loving your country, sacrifice for the greater good, and so much more — all in just a 10–15 hour experience. It’s incredible.

I could talk about the story and characters for hours, but it’s not about talking — it’s about feeling when you play it for the first time and experience it yourself.

The graphics are good, but the performance is a bit weak, with bugs, frame drops, and occasional crashes. For me, though, none of this was so bad that it ruined the experience.

The voice acting and music are amazing, and as I heard, they haven’t changed much from the original game.

Gameplay, however, is the weakest part. The movement and cover system feel clunky in many situations. If you try to play stealth, your cover can easily be exposed because of these flaws. Also, the loading screens every time you enter a new area feel really outdated for a 2025 game. On the other hand, the gunplay, injury system, survival mechanics (like food), and using the environment for camouflage are fun and engaging.

Overall, I enjoyed this game a lot because of the story, but due to gameplay and performance issues, it’s an 8.5/10 for me. I hope Konami brings more Metal Gear remakes, and a big thanks to Kojima for creating such an amazing game
