very good game. probably the best "bullet heaven" out there. you spend a ton of time in the satisfying "overpowered" zone while still getting jumpscared by challenging jumps in difficulty

pro tip: when you give a village a card instead of helping them, it gives them the ENTIRE STACK.

s/o to my 45 minute C tier run ended because i accidentally gave away my entire stack of lenses, nuking my crit build into the ground and killing me 30 seconds into the next fight.

kinda wish it told me it'd give away the whole stack!

absolutely nothing wrong with taking gameplay of 3-5 different games, slamming them together, and seeing what happens

in this case, it resulted in "ark, but i actually want to play it"

nicely done

I have been playing this game for nearly 15 years. I can play at 120WPM via the hotkeys. I can construct bedrooms and fortifications and gates with my eyes closed. I can dig out a fortress in record time. I've found valuable gems, mined giant veins of silver and gold, and crafted artifacts with so many engravings that it contains the entire history of the world.

I've built towers to heaven and dug pits to hell. I've adventured to the ends of the earth. I've gotten drunk with peasants, run away from guards, wrestled bears, escaped night creatures, debated kings, accused children of being vampires, and chased werewolves out from their lairs. I have slain angels, cut down titans that were around before time existed, learned the true names of demons from monolithic slabs from beyond the universe, and then used their names to force them to do my bidding.

... and then they changed all the got damn keybinds on me in the Steam release and I now play at the speed of a geriatric poke-typing an email on a WebTV.

But it's okay.

Because losing is fun.

Strike the earth!

It's like Homeworld watched the Expanse. It's the game you wish existed when you were watching the Roci pull 360 noscope railgun shots. What else could you possibly want? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My ONLY complaint: I'd expect ships with this level of tech to be FAR more automated. Targeting solutions should be solved for you, with the computer shoving a bunch of possibilities at you and you choose the one you want. Right now, you're a badass WSO on-board a legitimately salvaged corvette plotting manual torpedo tracks. Hey, you know what? I'm OK with both.

Pretty early in development but well worth the buy just to support this kind of game.

Ahhhh, yes. This is what I needed. Falcon 3.0, Jane's Fighter Anthology, Aces over the Pacific/Europe, all that jazz. Not what it actually looks like when I go back and play them, but what I remember them looking like. Good stuff. Looking forward to more.

Bonus points for the base names, but I fully expect the strongest base to appear at some point ⑨

broken as hell, but at least it isn't BFV/BF1!!

People complaining about "vehicles being too powerful" clearly have never played a BF game. Vehicles should require teamwork and coordination to be effective in and to kill. Aside from the hovercraft (which needs jeep-like HP, currently it has similar HP to a tank), they're pretty nicely balanced.

Needs work but even BF3 was awful at launch. I like it. Shootan games

edit:
Unfortunately, many of the changes being made push BF2042 too far towards the same issues BF1/BFV had-- being far too infantry-centric and attempting to make vehicles merely as effective as the sum of seats in them, rather than "hero characters".

This trend of making what essentially amounts to a CoD clone broke BF1 and BFV. It has broken this game too. :(

The standard to beat when it comes to VR overlays-- but nothing comes close. Gestures and interactions feel natural, UI is clean and easy to use, and the introduction of the notification API adds in some seriously interesting use cases.

Clearly designed with both new and advanced users in mind. That's a hard target to hit! Well done.

The ultimate space 4X/GS (let's not get on that argument, thanks). There's just nothing else that comes close.

Paradox's continual support for the modding community in this game just makes it all the more better. I'll gladly dump money into every DLC they release for Stellaris just because of their support to the community.

I can easily see how this is going to end up being a crazy-deep and good game. I somehow just burned 6 hours in it without noticing.

Big focus on huge cities which is really cool. Quite a change from DF (the easiest comparison) where 200 dorfs means your computer is at a standstill, and I'm at 700 pop and apparently still there's more to go.

Combat is relatively simplistic but fun to watch, boils down the best parts of big army fights into a few simple commands. Was able to pick up and understand battles immediately.

UI's a bit rough (but that's fine, I'm used to DF), mechanics are a bit shallow (but that's fine, further dev and mods will help). I'd love to see invasions of other provinces, although maybe that's already in?

I do think the knowledge system needs a revamp. I see why its built the way it is (encourages constant and continual growth of the city) but its a little confusing and a little annoying earlier on. I've already got 50% of my city's landspace dedicated to food, and now I've gotta dedicate 20% more of that to libraries. Whew.

Would definitely recommend to anyone who's tried out Dwarf Fortress and is looking for something a bit prettier (oh yeah, the "muddy pixel" graphics are quite nice, the lighting is gorgeous at night) and with a different feel. Very excited to see where it goes.
