Hi @glass, I'm not sure what sprite sheet format Game Maker supports, but with Aseprite you can export a .png sprite sheet with a .json file (e.g. json hash[gist.github.com], json array[gist.github.com]) (even using the command line http://www.aseprite.org/docs/cli/)

Hi @Maxnike, the trial version (http://www.aseprite.org/trial/) is exactly as the full version but, as you saw, you cannot save/export images. There is a free version (with save functionality) but it's really old and without a lot of new features (http://www.aseprite.org/older-versions/).

Hi @Floyd, it's basically as @Thorgi and @Mr.Fishy said, there is more work involved and Steam fees + US taxes is an issue. Also, if everything goes well, I'd love to add a new member to the team. That would be great!

Hi @Baudisch, thanks for the info. So well, if those sprite sheets have a fixed image size per sprite, in that case, you can use Aseprite to import/export RPGmaker sprite sheets.

@PafuPafu you could try the Import Sprite Sheet feature in the trial version: http://www.aseprite.org/trial/

Hi Sebastian, I'll be adding Steam features in the next releases. Today I'll release Aseprite v1.1.2 which is only the original version without any Steam feature, but future patches will include Steam features progressively.

It looks like Steam isn't updating registry keys correctly when we change to another branch (e.g. from the official release to beta, or viceversa).

For example, my official branch contains these entries in its installscript_win.vdf:
"InstallScript" { "Registry" { ... "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\AsepriteFile\\shell\\open\\command" { "string" { "(Default)" "/"%INSTALLDIR%/Aseprite.EXE/" \"%1\"" } } } }

And my beta branch contains:
"InstallScript" { "Registry" { ... "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\AsepriteFile\\shell\\open\\command" { "string" { "(Default)" "/"%INSTALLDIR%/Aseprite.EXE/"" } } "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\AsepriteFile\\shell\\open\\ddeexec" { ... } ... } }

The problem is that if we install the beta branch, and then we switch back to the official one, the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\AsepriteFile\\shell\\open\\ddeexec" is not deleted (which causes a problem with Windows Explorer integration, the ddeexec key must be deleted).

In topic VCRedist 2015 is installed multiple times
If some app depends on the Visual C++ runtime for 2015, when we launch that app, Steam isn't creating the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\Apps\CommonRedist\vcredist\2015
So the runtime is reinstalled each time we run the app.

Tested on Windows 10, Steam beta client (Feb 4 2016, package version 1454620878)
