an sfv free weekend was my window into street fighter and conventional fighting games as a whole, but after playing most of the rest of the series and coming back for another free weekend, i have to say that it is one of the weaker links of the series. the game is by no means bad, but it has a somewhat neutered footsies game, and jump-ins can be annoying to deal with. by far the most annoying aspect of the game is the inconsistency of inputs. as the street fighter series has progressed, special moves have been made easier and more forgiving to input. this has rarely made any serious negative impact on the gameplay, but sfv crosses a line where inputs can be muddied and accidental supers or the wrong special moves can pop out accidentally, which can be really obnoxious for inputs that can be done consistently on older street fighter games.
all in all, the game is good, but it can be frustrating to play, and it may leave a bad impression on players new to the series. i personally would recommend to buy street fighter 4 if you are new to fighting games or to buy the 30th anniversary collection if you're experienced with fighting games and want to see the best street fighter has had to offer over the years.
