So this finally went on sale enough on another site where I felt like I could finally quit being such a cheapskate and buy this game that I've wanted for a long time now. I've got to say that it would have been more than worth it at full price.

The graphics are great. The game looks beautiful and exploring the city is a blast. The parkour system where you're running and jumping and flying through the air is way more fun than I ever thought it could be. Unlocking the grappling hook just makes it that much more enjoyable and you whizz along even faster than before. I absolutely love digging through abandoned houses, climbing through windows, garage doors, and holes in the roof. Picking locks on doors, chests, and lockers to find all sorts of goodies left abandoned by their owners.

The entire atmosphere of the game is just excellent. Combat is fun and, for me at least, I find myself almost exclusively relying on melee weapons and very rarely using firearms. (Except in a few fights against a few specific zombie / human types.) If I had to give the game a knock it would be the story. You're not going to find anything earth shatteringly compelling or original here. A secret agent dropped into a land ravaged by zombies and you need to recover those secret agency files that you secret leadership happened to leave there that was stolen by bad guy.

It's not that the story is bad it's just that it's not what it could be.

I highly recommend leaving your games public, both so that others can join them and for Night Invasions. For me the first day I was playing some guy that had months into the game joined mine to play along. He threw me weapons that I really shouldn't have had and I was suddenly running around killing everything that moved with one shot. As fun and as awesome as it was it did break the game for a little while. Any sense of danger was gone as I could two shot even the big goons. Eventually they broke though and I was back to my usual stuff.

While Dying Light can be tense and scary during the day Night takes it to a whole 'nother level. Night Invasions, like I mentioned before, are crazy. It's when another person joins your game and plays as this special infected zombie. They have infinite lives (with a longer respawn timer than you) and five "nests" that they need to protect. The humans get 10 lives with the goal to destroy those nests. Kill all the nests before you run out of lives and you win. It can be incredibly challenging and incredibly fun. I highly recommend not just sleeping through every night time. No matter how scary it can be!

A definite buy. I love Dying Light.
